It turns dry and a touch astringent late, with a clear almond bitterness in the finish. At 56% it starts thin on the palate, then the aromas build and take hold.

A very interesting rum, as always with Rhum House. On the palate initially rather reserved, somewhat thin. But then the aromas come out in an astringent coat. Nutty, fruity and also distinctly bitter (almond), especially in the finish. Initially subtle, an increasingly strong herbal note comes from the nose to the finish.

A broad but rather soft nose, with pastry flavors, fruity with wood support. Dried fruits and especially apricot, dry herbs. A beautiful, complex nose. The first sip is clearly disappointing, diluted. Then the aromas come back and eventually gain confidence. A nice bitterness develops. The finish is pleasant, slightly spicy.

Very very exciting Chamarel and probably the best for me so far! Beautiful intense notes of roasted hazelnuts, popcorn and a bit of nougat, juicy orange peel, dried apricots and spritz cookies, also slightly bitter and woody, a little beeswax and herbs and very dry and a bit astringent at the back. I surprisingly like it a lot!
