Char, smoke and a whiff of tar hit first — several tasters swore they'd poured a peated whisky, not a Martinique agricole. Underneath sits sugarcane, citrus and a faint sweetness, but that toasted-cask burn runs the show start to finish. At 56% the alcohol pokes through; a few found the first sip harsh on the teeth. Divisive, and it knows it.

Notes taken during the Rhum Fest 2024, Quick notes and a bit heavy palate, sorry :) We have here: a burnt, smoky side, a light brine? Rum: quite surprising, I'd never have guessed it was a La Mauny. Finish: intense, burnt, smoky It's still quite nice, not too much in my style, but it's a change, and it's well done.

Rather fine pearls on the glass, a "classic" color for the age. On the nose, a quite confusing smell of plastic or rubber, burnt. The alcohol then tickles the nostrils. On the palate, already nicer at the attack with sugarcane, a fruity note, before this burnt side quickly takes over. The finish is rather short, I expected more lingering of this burnt side in the throat. Not really to my taste this one! Too bad, the last brotherhood selection at La Mauny was superb!

Just poured into the glass, big question: is this really rum in my glass? A strong smell of peat and smoke, I think of peated whisky! I taste, yes it’s rum, there is a sweetness sensation I don’t know with other spirits. But still so much peat and smoke. I won’t beat around the bush, I don’t like it. I recommend it to peat lovers.

Tasted blind at Sandy's, I found the agricole markers on the nose. The barrels reworked with heat bring the product towards the empyreumatic notes. I found the first sip violent, it loosens the molars. I think it deserved a bit more polish and aging. The alcohol lacks balance. Overall, the product is still pleasant.

On the nose primarily woody and plant-earthy aromas, subtly almost leaning towards aromatic cigars. On the palate more sweetness, dark chocolate and hazelnut, sugarcane, spices. Again an earthy note pointing towards peatiness appears, which doesn't bother me. Overall the profile could be a bit fuller, also the finish is a bit too restrained for me.

A farm that looks like a TDL! The markers of Martinique are not obvious. Alcohol could be better integrated. A little pricey for a 4yo, but undeniably good!

The nose is charred, toasty, woody with some fruit on the side. The palate is very charred, then toasted wood, pepper, leather, citrus tobacco and a distant sweetness on the finish. In the empty glass intense seasoning.
