Second tasting: A smooth and round Agricole. With lots of nuts, spices and red berries. Full-bodied on the palate, with a medium-long finish accompanied by roasted aromas. A great Agricole with a super PLV, unfortunately quickly sold out.

Hype ... Yes and no ... this is an extremely drinkable Agricole without any rough edges.... A mixture of nut, fruit and spice. And with an excellent PLV... for a top rating, however, it lacks depth and complexity!

I'm not giving it a score yet, as I'm not sure after the first tasting whether the current hype is justified. I have to admit that the rhum didn't knock my socks off as expected. At least on the palate, it seemed drinkable, but also somewhat indifferent and lacking in character, whereas the nose was promising. Let's see how the evaluation turns out when the sample from @Leo arrives and the current cold releases me from its grip. Update 2023-12-08: The sample from Leo has arrived, I tasted it straight away - and can now clearly award points, and lots of them! This J.M is simply amazing! Really very successful and round, without any weaknesses, but with all the strengths that make it a top product. I like the slightly shy vanilla note on the palate, but even more the dark berry impression on the nose. For me, it's a contender for bottling of the year. All I can say is: thank you!

Really awesome Agricole! While older Agricoles are, in my taste, already too woody or bitter, the Wu Dram is exactly on point. For me, just the right balance of fruitiness and bitter notes, almost unusually "little" Agricole notes. Still a clear Agricole character and therefore for me one of the best releases in a long time in this style!

Compared to the 2014 Kirsch, it seems a bit less typical J.M., for me both are on the same level although they are quite different in taste. I would have expected a bit more from the WuDram. The Kirsch has for me the better price-performance ratio.

Wow! I've never smelled and tasted a combination like this before! Homemade red fruit jelly with vanilla pulp meets dark chocolate, meets Earl Grey tea with plenty of bergamot and subtle lavender and walnut. Incredibly mild and dangerously drinkable. Absolutely awesome stuff! For me, the young agricole brut de fut discovery of the year! 😍😋

Tasting 16.10 For me personally a round Agricole. It may lack complexity. But it absolutely makes up for it with its taste. Smooth - nice notes of pastry, butter, vanilla join berries and chocolate notes. Very subtle nutty note, barely perceptible. Alcohol is very well integrated. Somehow my equivalent to soul food. The rum I would reach for when I want something pleasant and delicious. For me personally one of my 2 bottlings of the year with great value for money.

On the palate, the rum is much more settled than expected. Nuts, vanilla, chocolate and wood dominate, accompanied by a fine fruit sweetness and bergamot, which lends depth to the profile. Some sugar cane and vanilla on the nose, but less freshness than is typical of many agricoles. The overall impression is harmonious, more warm and spicy than lively, with a good balance between wood and sweetness.

#4988 20.12.2024 Relaxing at home with some samples. Nose Light wood, faint smoke, orange, grass, light polish, floral, dried fruit. Palate Balanced, wood, light roasted, dried fruit, oily, light grass, medium spicy, light citrus, light caramel. Finish Medium to long, balanced, medium spicy, oily, wood, light roasted, dried fruit, light citrus, light nutts, light caramel. The empty glass has light coconut and peaches as well as a light herbal note.

A great Agricole with good value for money. Overall a very rounded rum, with very well integrated alcohol and a nice long finish. Initially, notes of vanilla, pastry, and a bit of mocha come forward. These aromas then unfold in the taste, complemented by cocoa, red fruits, dark chocolate, and walnut. A creamy pleasure perfect for the cold season.

Heard a lot of good things about this, tried briefly at Sönke's and now on vacation with lots of calm: Nose: just wow! Intense, voluminous and full-bodied, concentrated and very tasty. Ripe, dark blackcurrant and gooseberry, dried blood orange, a hint of papaya. Pleasant sweetness of honey, toffee and soft caramel. Spicy with Maggi and vanilla, slightly malty. Also has something of old Calvados. Excellent, round Agricole nose. 9.0 Palate: also wonderfully intense, full-bodied and strong. First clearly woody acidity, slightly bitter-salty and sharp. Then it softens immediately, malty-roasty, with licorice and fat pecan nut. Dark fruits between cherry and sour cherry, gooseberry and papaya as well as bitter orange. Ends with a pleasant mocha note and black tea. A long pleasure. 9.0

Impressively round profile. Rich nut notes with caramelized sugar, fully ripe baked apple and stewed red fruits. On the palate creamy chocolate appears, turning the nutty aroma into nougat sweetness, again there are fruity notes of red berries and heavy citrus aromas of candied orange peel. The whole is rounded off by spicy-roasty barrel influences. Very gallant profile, an easy sipping rum that never denies its agricole nature. Great!

Incredibly soft and well-integrated alcohol. Warming, fruity, little wood and grass - super relaxed and easy sipping for an Agricole. Especially the roasted aromas (espresso and dark almonds) in combination with butter melting on fresh pudding - à la bonne heure.

It needs quite some time in the glass and develops. I didn't find the first sip so intoxicating. Very good, nutty, dry Agricole with surprisingly much (tropical) cask influence.

As usual I am late to the party and as everything has been said before I will keep it short: A really great agricole, complex and balanced and tastewise more on the vanilla, caramel spices side. The nose is also nice but the chemical glue is slightly off putting. Overall a really great sipper but also nothing to blow your mind. Nevertheless defensively worth seeking out a bottle for a decent price.

For me personally the best Agricole of 2023, super smooth and round! Great fruity and berry nose. It doesn’t seem highly complex on the palate but still brings great aromas of fruits and chocolate. It feels very balanced and round.

Best Rhum J.M I've had in a glass so far. And what one: extremely smooth and supple, a symphony of balanced aromas. Vanilla, raspberry (red fruits), chocolate, caramel, and other supporting flavors. Really well done!

Full-bodied, bourbon, tasty. Really a PLV rocket... a feel-good rum. Tastes better to me than the cherry one tasted in parallel (2014/50.3%)... somehow less agricole and without the grassy notes.

Wow, what a great rum! Not the usual agricole yet a fantastic dram On the nose, cream and nuts. On the palate, again nuts, chestnuts above all, and chocolate, plus some spices (nutmeg). The alcool is perfectly integrated.

This bottling from Wu Dram Clan presents itself with a beautiful mahogany color in the glass, following the motto: the eye drinks too. The nose reminds me of grandma's red fruit pudding with homemade vanilla sauce. Along with dark chocolate and a bit of nuttiness. On the palate, this childhood memory continues including the creamy mouthfeel. The finish fades with a pleasant honey sweetness and slight grassy notes. This distillate at 53.3% catapults the memory of grandma's dessert into adulthood!
