This is a blast! Mahogany colour and smell like a hospital, brutally technical and petrol in the background, slightly strong in the vein. The taste is slightly minty with a long finish and combined with a technical glue. Very interesting!

Where is that Jamaican funk? Aroma is technical. I noticed combination of wood, lot of spices, smoke, some sweet scents (dark chocolate?) and almost none fruit scents, what is truly shame. In taste I noticed lot of spices with sweet flavor but also there is a lot of wood and smoke, which makes flavor itself very heavy (not in the good way). There are some technical flavors (rubber and nail polish). Finish, in my opinion, had average duration. I noticed spice, rubber and smoke. I tried and gave this rum second chance, but no. This is not good sample of Appleton rum not to mention, sample of rum that has higher price range. I think this is very average rum (in a bad way) that I can not recomended at all (not for that price).

These Sharks are really quite alcoholic already, for whatever reason. Now we're definitely in Jamaica, this Appleton is okay, you can definitely recognize tropical fruits here, as well as a bit of ester.

#6281 25.01.2026 My wife just left for an outing with her colleagues, so I can now dive into a few samples. Nose Wood, light roasted, light glue, faint rubber, faint smoke, light leather, dried fruit, faint chocolate. Palate Oily, warm, wood, light smoke, peppery, light chocolate, light polish, raisin, light medicinal. Finish Long and warm, wood, light tannins, dried fruit, light chocolate. Empty glass Dried fruit, light acetone, chocolate, raisin.

Jamaica without Hampden tasting: Has something of a Caroni finish. Very medicinal, but still weirdly complex with fruits and spices. Should be tried again with long breathing. Alcohol is still well integrated. Unfortunately below average for me.

On the nose, I really thought it could be an Appleton. But on the palate, it's absolutely clear to me that it's a Clarendon 2007. Reminds me a lot of Bellamy's. Extremely fresh and mentholated, woody and medicinal, slightly reminiscent of shoe polish. Overall also quite alcoholic...

A pretty extreme rum! Full blast furniture polish, lacquer, gasoline, wood, menthol. This doesn't fit the Appleton profile at all! I'd rather guess an extreme Clarendon. I don't find it particularly good, but at least it's extremely intense and the alcohol is surprisingly well integrated.
