Precious Liquors The Cane Jamaica Rum 2008
Made for people who already enjoy Jamaican funk and want a blend to pick apart. It's a 14-year mix of Jamaican marks — tasters keep calling out the New Yarmouth share, with Worthy Park banana and Monymusk dryness underneath. Expect cookie dough, tropical fruit, varnish and ester. Several found the nose more exciting than the palate, which turns a touch hot and slightly astringent at 57.1%.

How does Precious Liquors The Cane Jamaica Rum 2008 taste?
From community reviews · summarized with AI
Funky Jamaican blend, cookie dough and banana Well-liked Jamaican blend, funky but not extreme. The nose — cookie dough, banana, varnish — wins most people over; the palate lands a bit hotter and less complex.

Well-balanced Hampden. Nice and round, not much ester. Reminds me of the GH21.

#5117 01.03.2025 tasting at Whiskymessen.dk Nose Medium intense, fruity, light wood, ester, overripe, light varnish, banana, faint mint. Palate Medium intense, faint wood, fruity, overripe, ester, light varnish, light mint, faint floral, spice, light pineapple. Finish Long, light wood, light rubber, fruity, light pineapple, light mint, light floral. Needs to rest for a while.

Edit: New Yarmouth share clearly recognizable. Exactly my thing. Beautiful piece I'm thrilled with the first impression. I'll give it a little more time in the glass when sampled and report back.

I somehow don't quite understand the blend. It's a good blend, New Yarmouth dominates somewhat.

Precious Liqours has been on the market for a while, but it didn't really take off in Europe with legendary trade fair appearances and proper marketing until 2024. I had this blend in my glass for the first time at the German Rumfestival and am glad to have received a sample from zabo. Lots of cookie dough on the nose, some esters, tropical fruit and very inviting overall. On the palate, the esters are there but not too dominant, the blend is very harmonious. Cookie dough again, but Worthy Park in particular comes into its own here with plenty of banana. The finish is again more New Yarmouth with lots of cookie dough. Makes you want to order another cake. Unfortunately, everything has already been eaten. A very successful blend, the first impression at the fair was not misleading.

Nose: heavy fruity sweetness rises from the glass and makes it unmistakably clear that the blend contains a proportion of New Yarmouth. I also think I recognize Worthy Park with the typical banana - but without knowing the composition I probably wouldn't have guessed. On the palate, the cask influence comes more to the fore and dominates the overall impression together with the New Yarmouth component. Worthy Park is also briefly noticeable on the palate, but is quickly displaced by Monymusk with its typical dryness before New Yarmouth takes over again. Long Pond is somehow lost in the blend The medium to long finish is also a New Yarmouth home game. Very good composition! But unfortunately the proportions of the blend are not balanced in terms of intensity. In the interests of transparency, the marks used would have been informative.

A nice Jamaican blend with a good proportion of New Yarmouth, which you can taste prominently. It's a little less appealing on the palate than on the nose, but for the price you can take it with you without hesitation. Thanks Jörg for the dram 👌

Great Jamaica blend! Cookie dough, dark chocolate, banana and light acidity with plenty of funk! The new Yarmouth 2005 share clearly sets the tone here and is beautifully played around by the other rums from Long Pond and Monymusk. Great mouthfeel, alcohol well integrated.
Review by Banana Joe
Nice blend. I like it better on the nose than on the palate. Initially develops in a floral direction in the glass. The longer it breathes, the more a nail polish aroma comes through. Surprisingly sweet on the palate, but no longer as complex as on the nose.
Review by Basti
Fair rating. Very nice Jamaica blend, in which the New Yarmouth stands out for me both on the nose and on the palate, which I personally like, as the 2005 bottlings are top notch across the board! The alcohol is very well integrated.
Review by TheJackDrop
Clearly a beautiful juice, the nose is particularly successful, intoxicating with its tropical fruits, varnish, but also gourmand notes between vanilla and marzipan. The palate follows well, however a bit alcoholic on the finish, and slightly astringent.
