Rhum Attitude T.D.L Trinidad Rum 2005
Most people land in the same place on this 18-year TDL: a quiet, almost shy nose that the palate more than makes up for. Mint, eucalyptus and burnt sugar lead, then yellow tropical fruit, passion fruit, black tea and a salty edge open up. At 64% the alcohol does push through, and a few wanted it better integrated. Give it air and it rewards you.
- Cooling mint, eucalyptus
- Fruity, tropical palate
- Great value

How does Rhum Attitude T.D.L Trinidad Rum 2005 taste?
Aggregated from 83 community reviews.
Minty, fruity TDL with a shy nose Loved for its cooling mint-eucalyptus and tropical-fruit palate, with strong value praise. The recurring gripe: a reserved nose and an ABV that some find not fully integrated. Needs time to open.
Fans of minty, herbal Trinidad TDL who don't mind high ABV
Anyone wanting an expressive nose or a softer, lower-proof pour

Chocolate, mango, peach, tropical fruit, tobacco, generally very fruity, tropical, not Jamaican but different, dry on the nose, associations with sweetness, but it's not really sweet. In the mouth, tobacco, tea, red fruits, licorice, orange peel, passion fruit, rubber frogs, subtly woody. Tastes like tropical iced tea...dangerous. Alcohol well integrated, for 64% a somewhat light finish but lasts a long time, changes flavors. In the finish still pome fruit, slightly smoky, black tea, mint. Time to breathe is recommended and a drop or two of water would also suit it well. A very successful TDL bottling that is fun to drink. More fruity in profile compared to the CDI.

Interesting filigree, fruity-sweet and flowery nose! Strangely enough, there seems to be more behind the light aromas than the nose reveals. I'm looking forward to the first sip! Oh yes, there is hardly anything delicate on the palate! At first, the alcohol really comes into its own and gradually the typical TDL markers emerge: spice, mint, herbs, black tea, eucalyptus. The finish is harmonious with the impression on the palate. The barrel notes and herbs remain present for a long time and the fruitiness (passion fruit!) fades. I really like this TDL because it is so beautifully floral and restrained and elegant on the nose but really packs a punch on the palate!

This T.D.L 2005 is a great bottling. So young and yet so full-bodied. The nose is not quite as pronounced as the palate, but gives you a hint of what is to come. Fresh mint/eucalyptus paired with burnt caramel and a juniper/gin note. Very promising. It then shows its potential on the palate, as these flavors are wonderfully alternated in the mouth without one dominating too much. Perfect! The finish is of medium length and here, too, the aforementioned aromas gently fade out.

A nose you have to dwell on to really appreciate. Lots of fruit, peach, very fresh. A soft attack on the palate, a salty side, lots of different kinds of fruit. Like an aroma, especially of cold peach tea. The finish is long, woody with a tannic edge.
Review by mto75
The Rhum Attitude is somehow a little restrained on the nose, and at a proud 64.1%. What I make out goes in the direction of yellow fruit, cream candy, shortbread, mint. The palate is different, the power comes out immediately, with passion fruit, cappuccino, caramel, cask, salty at the back... From memory, I would say that the Swell 2005 TDL was a whole lot better...

My first 2005 T.D.L . More elegant than the 2001 and 2003 vintages from the distillery. Needs some time in the glass, but then gets a nice black tea note with peach and mint. Slight sweetness.

All in all, a beautiful 2005 T.D.L, just as you would expect. The only point of criticism is the nose, which is very restrained. On the palate, however, there is a bit more going on. The markers are clearly recognizable and bring pleasure. From memory, it passes the Private Garden #4 from Swell.

Caramelized nectarine and petrol and burnt sugar on the nose, as well as some juniper. The taste is then intensely passion fruit, peach and mint iced tea and again minimally of petrol and caramelized nectarine. Somehow also like salty, greasy peanut butter in the finish... Very exciting, unusual and delicious TDL! If it weren't for the petrol note, the rating would be significantly higher....

Wow a really nice TDL here. Has a really great nose consisting of mint and eucalyptus. Only very subtle but really nice and refreshing. The palate is also predominantly mint and eucalyptus, but also sugar and black tea.

T.D.L. Time. In der Nase fast ein bisschen unscheinbar. Leichte Vanille, gebrannter Zucker, frische Minze.

For me, the rum is increasingly gaining ground - still a little staid on the nose, but with great cooling notes on the palate and especially in the finish, which are not yet recognizable in this depth in the mouth. On the palate, there is a very appealing spectrum of wood, caramel and vanilla sugar, mint, some roasted aromas, plus mint tea and cooling eucalyptus notes. Delicious.

Degustační kalendář Pavla Špačka vol. 4. Příjemný mátový trinidad. Hezky integrovaný alkohol kde bych vůbec neodhadl ABV. V chuti i v nose černý čaj, broskev, máta a dřevo. Celé je to jemné s příjemné.

Discreet nose. Sweet and fresh on the palate. The fruit is also rather discreet. Not very complex. Average length. Rough tongue at the end. Is it the alcohol or the tannins? Curious, on the finish I sense a note of peanut butter...

Does not come close to the 2001-2003 vintages. Some menthol, but significantly less intense and less complex.
Review by Julien Ries

Tasted this at SDR23, so my review remains rather concise. The nose is a wonderful blend of oily and cooling components, starting with mint, eucalyptus and gasoline before evolving into a sweeter, spicy profile with raw canesugar, and liberal amounts of juniper and licorice. It’s obviously very comparable to other ‘05-‘09 TDLs, but the wood is discernibly lighter. Much less dense in the mouth. Instead displays an open, playful and aerated profile. It’s still very dirty; intense with mint, eucalyptus, the whole ‘shebang’. But it’s lighter on its feet than I’m used to, less oily and more infused with salty seawind. I like the profile kept a little more dense, but it’s still a very strong drop with great value for money at release.

The bottle has been open for about five months now and it definetly got better over time. The nose is spicy and herbal with notes of eucalyptus, juniper, leather, mint, petrol and dried fruit. The taste is a flavour bomb with notes of chocolate, leather, burnt Sugar, menthol, orange peel, eucalyptus, Passion fruit, peaches and vanilla. The menthol and Passion fruit stay for the finish along with some bitter notes. A lovely tdl! I could score it higher if the nose was as intense as the taste.
