On the nose, the typical T.D.L herbal note has the clear upper hand. The mint is accompanied by a subtle freshness that contrasts pleasantly with the barrel influence. Fruits and spices are also present. There is practically no alcoholic spiciness. Not much happens on the palate at first - pleasant sweetness and fruit, but after 3-5 seconds the rum takes an enormous twist and becomes a cannabis and hop monster, which intensifies over time! The mint remains but takes a back seat to the cannabis and hops. It is clearly noticeable that the rum was bottled at 46.5% - nothing scratches or bites: aromatically strong and intense but alcoholically very mild. Cannabis, hops and mint lead seamlessly into a wonderful finish and here the fruits have their say again. I love it when a rum behaves unpredictably and this one has taken the top position in this respect so far! It would be even better with a little more power.

Nase: Top! Ein wunderschönes Profil, auf dem ich gerne hängenbleibe. Der „dezente“ Hinweis auf Hanf vom Label zeigt sich in der Nase noch nicht, stattdessen das bekannte und gesuchte Profil der 2000er - 2003er TDL mit Minze, viel Eiche, Zitrusfrüchten (rote und gelbe), dazu Trauben, ein leichter Hauch Möbelpolitur, reife Stachelbeeren, ein wenig Banane, Pfirsich und überreifen Erdbeeren mit Vanille und Karamell zum Abschluss. Nicht sehr dreckig, eher der cleaneren Seite zuzuordnen. Am Gaumen dann die Überraschung: Das Cannabis- oder Hanfaroma kommt hier voll durch, viel deutlicher als erwartet. Merkliche Anflüge von Cannabis-Aromen hatte ich bereits im Rom de Luxe TDL No. 42 2002 mit 20 Jahren und dem Rasta Morris 2001 mit 21 Jahren vernommen, doch bin ich hier ob der Deutlichkeit und Dominanz tatsächlich positiv überrascht, da freue ich mich auf einen „FRC TDL 02 21 mit Blunt“ und lasse das klassische „Rum mit Zigarre“ mal außen vor. Kleiner Wermutstropfen ist, dass die wirklich tolle Nase sich nicht 1:1 am Gaumen fortsetzt. Die Minze aus der Nase ist dem Cannabis fast komplett gewichen bzw. hat diese ersetzt, die Eiche ist spürbar und der Rum ist leicht adstringent. Dreckige Noten fehlen nahezu vollständig, der Eindruck ist eher clean und auch schimmert das spanische Profil etwas durch. Ein wenig mehr Volumen hätten wohl noch gepasst, ich verstehe allerdings, dass dies wohl die fein justierte Aromatik negativ beeinflusst haben könnte. So ist dieser Rum definitiv auch einsteigerfreundlich und easy sipping. Insgesamt rücken die vielen Früchte aus der Nase in den Hintergrund, doch bin ich gespannt, wie dieser Rum sich über die Zeit in der geöffneten Flasche entwickeln wird. Der Abgang ist mittellang bis lang mit starkem Cannabis-Finish am Gaumen. Wer Cannabis und/oder (bestenfalls beides) kennt und mag: Unbedingt zuschlagen, er gefällt sehr. Von mir stabile 89 Punkte und klare Kaufempfehlung für den geneigten Connaisseur. 420. Nuff‘ said. Nachtrag: Nach knapp einer Woche kommt auch der Port-Einfluss in Nase und am Gaumen voll durch und ergibt ein Wahnsinns-Bouquet mit Cognac/Armagnac Einfluss auf dem TDL Profil. Der Cannabis-Flip ist noch da. Nun 90.

Wow, super cool! Typical TDL nose, fresh with menthol and the lychee notes I like so much. Slight barrel notes in the background, but unobtrusive. This continues on the palate at first, with a little more barrel. Then a clear weed aroma comes out of nowhere, the lychee recedes, but remains there. Mouthfeel rather dry, astringent. The finish is of medium length, the aromas linger on the tongue for a while. Bonus points for the unusual Weed Nite ✌️

Wow! I didn't expect that... I was extremely skeptical about the low alcohol content and the weed logo, but this thing is an absolute grenade! Extremely tasty and drinkable with mint, yellow Williams pear and juicy peach and clearly weed/cannabis, as well as some milk chocolate and green cardamom. Without being a professional, I would guess that the grass aroma is super lemon haze😃 super tasty, palatable, aromatically complex and not too thin at any point. A very positive surprise!

Excellent bottle. Doesn't really feel like rum. Sour. Sweet. Tropical. A bit herbal. This is a rollercoaster. Not for everyone. בקבוק מדהים בעיניי. טרופי. חמוץ. בשל. קצת עשבוניות ושוקולד. לא מרגיש כל כך כמו רום זה דיי חריג. אהבתי מאוד במיוחד במחיר שלו. אבל חייב להודות שיושבים ושותין עוד עוד ועוד. עם כל המתיקות החמיצות הזו. זה פשוט מרוכז מאוד וקשה לשבת הרבה זמן עם הרום הזה.

Tasted at the Hanse Spirit 2024 One of my highlights of the fair! Beautiful herbal nose paired with yellow fruits. On the palate I had a lot of hops on the first day, like IPA as rum. On the second day it went more in the direction of cannabis for me. Either way, very cool!

After I had already tried this rum when I sampled my first bottle and was full of praise, I tasted it again today at my leisure and my first impression was confirmed: an extremely drinkable rum that lives mainly from its powerful cannabis finish. Perfect dope for a relaxed and chilled-out Friday evening. For me, the most (positively) surprising release of 2023.

#4569 22.01.2024 Once again relaxing a bit at home. Sampling this rum while adding older tastings to the app. This is a very nice bottling from this bottler. Overall a potent profile with a nice kick to it. There is a faint medicinal note in the profile. Nose Light wood and roasted notes, medium fruity, light mint, floral, light medicinal note. Palate Balanced, wood, light roasted, medium dry, fruity, light mint and a lovely floral touch. Finish Medium to long, wood, light mint and vegetal notes, citrus with mint at the end. The empty glass has some light herbs and faint chocolate.

Krasses Zeug, aber der Doppelwumms fehlt. Die zweite Flasche ist aber schon bestellt haha. Von den Aromen ( abseits der Fassnoten ) ist er bei mir zwischen dem 2002er Romdeluxe und dem 2001er Rasta Morris - hat man den Rasta Morris daneben im Glas, hat dieser aber viel mehr Intensität. Und da waren wir beim Hauptproblems dieses TDLs - ich nehme ihn als krass runterverwässert wahr, damit hat man diesem Rum wirklich keinen gefallen getan. Dafür ist er extrem süffig, da der Alkohol sehr gut eingebunden .... nun ja zu wenig Alkohol eingebunden ist . Nase : riecht fruchtig nach TDL und schwer nach Weinfass. Am Gaumen bekommt man eine richtige Geschmacksexplosion ab - Erst Angostura-TDL- Orange, dann Minze und Canabis - und wow - die Graßnoten sind noch ausgeprägter als beim Rasta Morris. Anschließend kommen die ganzen Fässer dazu, die ich kaum noch von einander differenzieren kann. Mir taugt das Fassfinish extrem, hat was von sehr teuren alten Sherrywhiskys - ich kann mir aber vorstellen, dass vielen das Finishing dieses Rums wieder nicht gefallen wird - zumal es am Gaumen sehr apprupt einsetzt und sich erst im Abgang harmonisch mit den TDL noten verbindet. Der Abgang ist, dafür dass der Rum so dünn ist, sehr lang.

Gefällt mir sehr dieser T.D.L. Natürlich hat man die übliche Minze in der Nase. Außerdem schmeckt er sehr frisch, sowie leicht medizinisch. Am Gaumen dann auch hauptsächlich Minze, des Weiteren sehr pflanzlich, sowie etwas Schwarztee lässt sich erkennen.

A pleasant fresh note with herbs on the nose. Yellow fruit and some wood are also present. On the palate, a completely crazy cannabis note dominates the mint and fruit notes relatively quickly. A slight sweetness mixes in. Fruit and cannabis notes remain medium-long in the finish.

Wonderful nose, which unfortunately does not continue in the mouth. Instead, the typical TDL notes are joined by a strong cannabis note. Really special, something I've never experienced before. Of course, a higher ABV would also be better.

An der Nase für mich klasse. Typisch TDL dazu durch die Reduktion und die Fasseinflüsse sehr entspannt. Am Gaumen werden diese dann deutlich von einer etwas säuerlichen Hopfen-Note ergänzt. Im Finish dazu prägnant Cannabis, da fragt man sich schon wo das herkommt. Interessante Variante würde ich einfach sagen.
