Almond paste, honey and dried apricot lead the nose here, with orange peel, dark chocolate and a sweet varnish note underneath. Tasters keep calling it an atypical Foursquare — the usual coconut steps aside for juicier fruit, kumquat, mango and a floral touch. The palate is unmistakably Barbados but livelier, and at 59% the alcohol runs hot. Long, warm, roasted finish.

👃 First impression very pastry-like, on marzipan (little pink pig), artisanal honey & nut spread (almonds, hazelnuts), Petit beurre biscuit, homemade muesli with diced dried fruits (mango, papaya). Then, dark chocolate orangettes, vanilla caramel, toasted coconut, cooking spices. The nearly 60 degrees are well present as sweet varnish. 😋 After a very pastry-like first nose quite far from the typical Foursquare profile, the palate is undeniably Barbadian. Bourbon cask, fairly lively alcohol, toasted coconut, caramel, honey, vanilla, roasted nuts and chocolate. Added to that is a bunch of fruits, notably bitter citrus (kumquat, blood orange) and candied tropical fruits (mango, papaya). A bit of sweet-bitter glue in a jar. ⛳ Long, warm, alcohol heat, spicy and peppery, some bitter fruits (citrus), quite rough wood, roasting. It coats the mouth walls well. 💡 An atypical Foursquare, that’s refreshing for once. Having visited the lavender house in Ardèche, I don’t find that floral characteristic in this rum’s profile. A very good Foursquare that, without lying to itself, explores some new olfactory facets we’re not used to finding. The magic of independent bottler selections.

Nice smelling, round and mild, but not full heavy taste... Foursquare is a distillery from Barbados producing amazing rums for everyday drinking. It's a rum especially appreciated by rum lovers who are fed up with sugar and looking for a gentle, sweet rum full of coconut, vanilla, chocolate and caramel. Simply pleasant and not aggressive flavors.

#7218 26.08.2026 Got a handful of Swell samples today so why not give them a run for their money. Thanks for the samples Peter! Watching the TV Series "Swamp Murders". A very nice Foursquare with an OK price tag in my mind. This is an atypical profile with a more floral touch and fruits, roasted wood, spice, faint glue, caramel, honey, pastries and a warm palate.

A nice FSQ where the coconut is not as strongly present on the nose as with the other 2006 bottlings. Otherwise a solid FSQ equipped with typical markers that lasts long into the finish.

A fabulous nose, surprisingly so for a cask strength! You lose the usual markers, replaced by the scent of flowers and honey. On the palate, it’s great, with mango, citrus, and spices. A very, very nice outing that finally deviates a bit from what I know from Foursquare.

A surprising nose for a Foursquare since almond replaces the usual coconut. It seems very indulgent, very sweet and honeyed. On the palate, the alcohol's sharpness first dominates. Then honey and vanilla blend with elegant woodiness. Medium-long finish that brings chocolate. Nice. But very far from the first FS released by this bottler.

Really delicious 2006 vintage Foursquare and for a change, aromatically a bit different than usual. Kumquat, citrus marmalade, and dried mango meet green pepper, coconut, and milk chocolate with hazelnuts and a bit of lavender. Great release! At first on the nose a bit fierce with lots of varnish and reminds a bit of Madeira wine, but it seems it was a very active bourbon cask!😅

The prize for the nicest label goes to Swell! Gold in the glass. ⚜️ At first it stings a bit, I let it breathe for a long time. Nice nose. Foursquare with little coconut, lots of cookies and plenty of fruits, especially ripe mango. Complex citrus fruits. Earthy. Nicely melted, very strong. Water doesn't hurt. 💦 More mango, citrus and spices. Very complex and full-bodied. Fruity, spicy. Almost a bit funky and tropical fruits. Nice finish. Spicy, mango. A very good Foursquare off the beaten path. Focus on citrus and tropical fruit. Needs time and water.

A very beautiful nose of vanilla, glue, a bit of fresh coconut. The palate confirms the nose, with in addition a nice floral side and a bit of pep. It evolves quite a bit in the glass. What stands out in this Foursquare is its balance and finesse, no marker too present, everything is well blended. Really like it a lot. Kudos to Swell and Versus for this Barbadian gem. Two months after opening the glue note becomes huge on the nose, it almost becomes addictive.

The "traditional" character of Barbados is there but there is also something (positively) different that I can't put my finger on, it is juicier and fruitier.

Flattering eye without depth, extremely indulgent nose, pastry-like, flattering. Extremely powerful mouth, even violent! What a slap! Once the fire has passed, there remains a great complexity and a vegetal touch that can remind of the agave of a tasting tequila. Excellent
