Cane Island DDL Guyana Single Estate XO
Opinions land in the middle on this one: most people call it pleasant but a touch anonymous. You get caramel, vanilla, dark chocolate and oak, with a soft demerara sweetness that doesn't taste artificial. A few tasters loved it neat; others found the 43% alcohol a little sharp and the whole thing too neutral to study. Easy demerara, not a deep one.
- Caramel and chocolate
- Smooth mouthfeel
- Sweet without tasting fake

Easy, sweetish demerara, pleasant but unremarkable Most find it tasty but middle-of-the-road: caramel, chocolate and oak in an easy demerara. One reviewer summed it up as "not bad, but not very special," and a few felt the alcohol wasn't fully integrated.

Sample no.16 of the 24 days of rum calendar 2023. One of the better ones in this years box but unfortunately this is exclusively made for the calendar 2023. Caramel and sweet vanilla on the nose and the 43% ABV also comes through with a sharp alcoholic sting. Palate is smooth as silk with caramel, banana, vanilla and oak. Very nice sipper!

Oh my goodness this is good!!! Smells like Pussers rum but tastes way much better. It is fairly sweet with typical guyanese tones such as dark chocolate, nougat but missing sort of raisins that I am used to at pussers. Spiciness comes up after short while which is pleasant I must say. So far probably the best guyanese rum that I have tasted. Maybe because it is fairly sweet but does not seem to be artificial. Much better than some eldorado, much better than pussers. Another sample from 24 days of rum 2023 that I would not hesitate to buy the whole bottle.

Doch ganz okay dieser Rum. Der erste Eindruck war relativ schlecht, aber der zweite und dritte Schluck haben meinen Eindruck klar verbessert. Dieser Rum hat eine leichte Schokoladen- und Karamellnote. Ganz ok.

Very caramelly/roasted in the nose (Diamond SV?). In taste a bit more fruityness and florality. A bit middle of the road demerara but still tasty enough.

Not bad, but not very special
Review by Lutz Lungershausen
Mild aromatische Nase, rund am Gaumen, warmer Abgang. Zum Sippen ist er mir zu unspezifisch, als Mixer tun die 43% ABV auch noch ihren Dienst. Insgesamt solide.
Review by Matthias Freynik
Mild in Geruch und Geschmack. Trotzdem ganz lecker. Riecht besser als er schmeckt. Relativ geschmacksneutral. Kurzer Abgang.

Time to finish up the 1423 Christmas calendar "24 days of rum". This one had some oak and spicyness in the nose to me, and some spice hints of dried fruit and an oily mouthfeel. I find the alcohol could have been better integrated
Review by Johannes
Despite the low percentage, the alcohol is not well integrated.

Sladší nevýrazná Guyana, která ale nese charakter toroairu
Review by Robert Houba
Dřevité, více cítit alkohol, trochu vanilka, karamel, nepříliš sladké
