"Reminds me of licking a piece of charred wood," one taster put it, and the wood really does run the show here — heavy oak, vanilla and caramel, with a hint of glue and tobacco underneath. A few catch orange marmalade or pineapple, but the fruit doesn't quite mesh. Several find it too sweet and a bit dusty. Pleasant enough, just not very complex.

Next up is No. 5 from the 24 day of Rum black Edition. I like it a bit more. The nose is very woody. You can detect vanilla and caramel. On the palate, it's also subtly sweet, again with wood, vanilla, and caramel.

The Naga 12-year-old rum is very easy to approach. The woodiness and caramel dominate from nose to finish. The soft spices make a discreet appearance. Despite lacking a bit of complexity, it's a really very pleasant rum.

I thought the calendar said Siam 10yo again, but I was wrong😃 Anyway, this one is an order of magnitude worse because it's too sweet for me. A big shame not only with this rum but a lot of others. I would love to try the unsweetened version but just unfortunately.

Here the wood from the barrel stands out particularly. At first, there's a bit of glue floating around. The creamy caramel notes remind me a lot of Venezuelan rum. On the palate earthy and a bit dusty.

Old sample that I got from I don't know where. The NAGA Thailand edition rum is distilled 5 times in distillation columns. The rum is then aged at the distillery in 200-liter American oak ex-bourbon barrels. To maintain a constant temperature, the cellar is located below ground level. The rum develops character there. (Source rhum-expert.fr) Nose: chocolate, woody Palate: spicy, chocolate, woody, round. Alcoholic bitterness at the end of the palate. Finish: chocolate Conclusion: nice to discover. Good sipping rum if it cost less, between 25-30 euros. But it costs 42€ from what I see.

Sample no.5 of the 24 days of rum calendar 2024. Nose is sweet and round with a herbal or green vegetal finish. Palate is less sweet and more herbal and vegetal.

Reminds me of licking a piece of charred wood. Nose at first reminded me of glue, but there must be some herby/vegetal notes that I can’t place. Softens after a few minutes in the glass to a point where the nose is even pleasant (like the smell after roasting marshmallows over a fire, when the coals are barely hot anymore)

24 days of Rum calendar mini #5. Caramel and orange marmalade. Maybe pineapple. The fruity elements don't really mesh great though. It's ok, just a little imbalanced. Dark golden pour.
