Don't expect a funk bomb — this ITP Long Pond is the tamer, low-ester end of Jamaica. Wood leads: damp cherry-wood, roasted spice and marzipan, wrapped around tropical fruit, black currant and a faint solvent edge. At 16 years tropical and 67%, the alcohol sits surprisingly well integrated. Several tasters found the palate outshines a shy, slow-opening nose.

Bottle Market Bremen October 2024. A really cool long pond. Find the 67% are super integrated. Really a perfect Jamaican, as it is written in the book. Lots of esters and tropical fruits. Really top.

A long pond with pleasant barrel influences, spiciness and moderate esters. The alcohol is well integrated. A pleasant note of bitter orange in the medium-long finish. For me, a very good Long Pond that is a lot of fun in the glass, but for a better rating than 8.6 points, a little something is missing at the end of the day.

A very good representative of the Long Pond ITP marks! Nose: Very woody (very beautiful moist cherry wood) roast aromas, ester notes, lacquer, various fruit notes and a fresh note in the background. Mouth: Very round and balanced. The alcohol is extremely well integrated. Here too I find similar notes as on the nose, but the fresh note has now turned into a slightly minty note (a slight hint of Fisherman's Friends spreads). Finish: Dry, pleasant, woody, fruity with an endless fresh mint note. In the end, I have to say clearly, without these overwhelming wood/roast notes, a 90+ rating would have been nothing in the way.

#4583 26-27.01.2024 Hanse Spirit Wow, this is a good release. Very fresh and well balanced profile. Nose Wood, light roasted, fruity, light caramel, ester. Palate Intense, complex, warm, fruity, naturally sweet, medium ester, faint marzipan. Finish Long and warm, wood, light roasted, fruits, light marzipan.

Exciting Jamaican. Comparatively tamed in the esters (as to be expected with this marrow), but spicy, strong and extremely woody-roasty. Definitely with acidity, but still within a pleasant range for me. Too unrounded and not complex enough for the top rating, but still a very nice bottling!

Doesn't really open up on the nose, even after a long time. But on the palate, the rum makes up for the restrained nose, you can tell it has matured for a long time in the tropics, wonderful! Even if Long Pond is not one of my preferred profiles, this bottling is still convincing.

Great Long Pond 2007. Strong nose with esters, black currants, vanilla, tropical fruits and great woody notes. Very complex and balanced just on the nose. On the palate also very intense with plenty of fruit and woodiness. Some esters come through as well... I really like the Mark ITP. In Mai Tai it grows on me more and more 😎

On the nose initially very reserved with some wood and spices. Over time tropical fruits, dried fruits and some glue come in. On the palate then less fruit and more spicy and woody notes. I like it very much overall! 2nd tasting: In direct comparison with the Barikenn very similar on the nose. On the palate the Schotman is then a bit too woody/spicy for me. I like the Barikenn a bit better there.

A wonderful bottling! Nice wood on the nose, without damping the fruitiness of the Long Pond too much. Also woody on the palate, with fruity esters. The rum is little sweet and rather fruity-sour. The impression after the first impression at home is different than at Hanse Spirit, shows again how good it is to taste the rum somewhere else again. At the fair it was my favorite, at home it is still very good, but does not quite correspond to the very good memories of the nice tasting on site.

Tried at HanseSpirit 2024 and if I hadn't already gotten a 10cl bottle from the last Bottle Market, I would have bought one now. Nose: beautifully fruity-spicy, with great, subdued esters. Intense and full-bodied. The esters are nicely wrapped in caramel and honey. A bit of vinegar and Pattex at the back. The fruit goes into sweet-sour, kumquat, blackcurrant, gooseberry, plus some passion fruit and mild banana. The 16 years show with a pleasant wood note and a very slight roasted smoky note is noticeable. Impressive, 8.6 Palate: strong, intense, astringent. Initially, a solid spicy-woody-fruity push. Bitter-woody-salty but at the same time ester-fruity. Papaya with bitter orange. Alongside spicy cedarwood, black pepper and nutmeg feel slightly roasted and charred. At the back, marzipan and a mandarin-orange note prevail. The impression from the nose continues consistently on the palate. 8.6 Great, intense LP that lingers long in the glass.

At the nose, first a lot of alcohol, some ester, wood and tropical fruits. On the palate, many aromas unfold, tropical fruits, lots of wood and a more complex interplay of aromas when it can breathe in the glass for a while. The high price is a bit off-putting for me, of course related to the long tropical aging. But basically a great bottling.

Nice, distinctive nose. Typical Jamaican notes of dried fruits, vanilla. Slight smoky notes in the background. Palate: Alcohol is unmistakable and immediately provides a cozy, long-lasting warmth. Then solvents, esters, tropical fruits and raisins come to the fore, followed by honey. Then it becomes slightly smoky on the finish alongside the persistent fruity notes.

30-08-2025 - Rate 8.7 German Rum Festival 3rd barrel selection and last rum of the day. Some Jamaica I appreciate more than Worthy Park. Have had a lot of good experiences with Long Pond. Nose with fruit, ester, wood and banana. Palate with ester, wood, fruit and spices. Long finish dominated by wood and marzipan. 19-09-2025 - Rate 8.3

25/01/2025: tasted @ Liquid Leuven in "De Hoorn". My expectations for this one were high, but unfortunately were not completely met. Happy I was able to taste this but considering the high price tag, I wouldn't be looking for a full bottle. It was nice to meet the man behind the brand though.

A really intense, wonderfully integrated and interesting Jamaica. A combination of tropical fruits, wood and spices, wrapped in honey, cane sugar and molasses. On the nose extremely inviting, tropical, with the characteristic Jamaican funky style, overripe bananas and lacquer. On the palate initially sweet tropical fruits with honey, then the character changes to sour(currants)-dry-woody, fresh and spicy-spiced. Alcohol very well integrated, but at the same time unmistakably noticeable overproof. The finish is long, sweet-sour-bitter with currant, spices and ginger in honey. A very successful edition, though also demanding for the palate.

Liquid Leuven 2025 This is a good Long Pond. You get your Long Pond funk with a pleasant sweetness. So it's easy to drink. However this is way overpriced, at 195 euro you get much better Long Ponds.
