Schotman’s Barrel Selection Long Pond Jamaica Rum Limited Batch (5th Release) ITP 2007
Don't expect a funk bomb — this ITP Long Pond is the tamer, low-ester end of Jamaica. Wood leads: damp cherry-wood, roasted spice and marzipan, wrapped around tropical fruit, black currant and a faint solvent edge. At 16 years tropical and 67%, the alcohol sits surprisingly well integrated. Several tasters found the palate outshines a shy, slow-opening nose.

Woody, spicy Long Pond with tamed esters Most rate this a very good Long Pond — intense, woody-spicy, fruity with restrained esters. A few feel the heavy oak and roast keep it from a top score, and the price gives some pause.

Bottle Market Bremen Oktober 2024. Ein richtig geiler Long Pond. Finde die 67% sind super eingebunden. Wirklich ein perfekter Jamaikaner, so wie er im Buche steht. Viel Ester und tropische Früchte. Echt top.

Ein sehr guter Vertreter des Long Pond ITP marks! Nase: Sehr holzig (sehr schönes feuchtes Kirschholz) Röstaromen, Esternoten, Lack, diverse Fruchtnote und eine Frische Note im Hintergrund: Mund: Sehr rund und balanciert. Der Alkohol ist extrem gut integriert. Auch hier finde ich ähnliche Noten wie in der Nase, jedoch die frische Note hat sich nun in eine leicht minzige Note umgewandelt (ein leichter Hauch von Fisherman‘s Friends macht sich breit. Abgang: Trocken, angenehm, holzig, fruchtig mit einer endlosen frischen Minz Note. Am Ende muss ich klar sagen, ohne diese überschwelligen Holz/Röstnoten wäre einer 90+ Bewertung nichts mehr im Wege gestanden.

An der Nase anfangs sehr verhalten mit etwas Holz und Gewürzen. Mit der Zeit kommen trop. Früchte, getr. Früchte und etwas Klebstoff dazu. Am Gaumen dann weniger Frucht und mehr würzige und holzige Noten. Gefällt mir in Summe sehr gut!

Ein Long Pond mit angenehmen Fasseinflüssen, Würzigkeit und gemäßigten Estern. Der Alkohol ist gut integriert. Im mittellangen Nachklang eine angenehme Note von Bitterorangen. Für mich ein sehr guter Long Pond, der im Glas viel Spaß macht, aber für eine bessere Bewertung als 8.6 Punkte fehlt am Ende des Tages eine Kleinigkeit.

#4583 26-27.01.2024 Hanse Spirit Wow, this is a good release. Very fresh and well balanced profile. Nose Wood, light roasted, fruity, light caramel, ester. Palate Intense, complex, warm, fruity, naturally sweet, medium ester, faint marzipan. Finish Long and warm, wood, light roasted, fruits, light marzipan.

Spannender Jamaikaner. Vergleichsweise gezähmt in den Estern (wie bei diesem Mark zu erwarten), dafür aber würzig, kräftig und überaus holzig-röstig. Durchaus mit Säure, aber für mich noch im angenehmen Rahmen. Für die Spitzenbewertung dann aber für mich zu unrund und nicht komplex genug, aber trotzdem eine sehr schöne Abfüllung!

Eine wundervolle Abfüllung! Schönes Holz in der Nase, ohne die fruchtigkeit des long pond zu stark zu dämpfen. Im Mund ebenfalls holzig, mit fruchtigen estern. Der rum ist wenig süß und eher fruchtig-sauer. Der Eindruck nach dem ersten Eindruck zuhause ist anders als auf der Hanse Spirit, zeigt nochmal wie gut es ist den Rum auch nochmal woanders zu verkosten. Auf der Messe war es mein Favorit, zuhause ist er immer noch sehr gut, entspricht aber nicht ganz den sehr guten Erinnerungen an das nette Tasting vor Ort.

Auf der HanseSpirit 2024 probiert und hätte ich nicht schon ein 10cl Fläschchen vom letzten Bottle Market mitgebracht bekommen, hätte ich ein solches jetzt gekauft. Nase: wunderschön fruchtig-würzig, mit tollen, gedeckten Ester. Intensiv und vollmundig. Die Ester sind schön von Karamell und Honig umfasst. Hinten ein bisschen Essig und Pattex. Die Frucht geht ins süßlich-saure, Kumquat, schwarzes Johannisbeere, Stachelbeere, dazu etwas Maracuja und milde Banane. Die 16 Jahre machen sich mit einer angenehmen Holznote bemerkbar und eine ganz leichte röstige Rauchnote ist vernehmbar. Macht Eindruck, 8,6 Gaumen: kräftig, intensiv, adstringent. Zunächst kommt ein ordentlicher würzig-holzig-fruchtiger Schub. Bitter-holzig-salzig aber zugleich Ester-fruchtig. Papaya mit Bitterorange. Neben würzigem Zedernholz wirken schwarzer Pfeffer und Muskat leicht röstig und verkohlt. Hinten raus kommt Marzipan und eine Mandarinen-Orangen-Note setzt sich durch. Der Eindruck der Nase setzt sich am Gaumen konsequent fort. 8,6 Toller, intensiver LP, de lange im Glas bleibt.

Macht an der Nase gar nicht richtig auf, auch nach längerer Zeit nicht. Aber am Gaumen entschädigt der Rum für die zurückhaltende Nase, da merkt man ihm die lange tropische Reifung an, wunderbar! Auch wenn Long Pond nicht zu meinem bevorzugten Profil gehört, weiß diese Abfüllung doch zu überzeugen.

An der Nase erstmal viel Alkohol, etwas Ester, Holz und tropische Früchte. Am Gaumen entfalten sich dann viele Aromen, tropische Früchte, viel Holz und ein komplexeres Zusammenspiel der Aromen, wenn er erstmal eine weile im Glas atmen kann. Der hohe Preis ist für mich doch etwas abschreckend, hängt natürlich mit der langen tropischen Reifung zusammen. Aber ansich eine tolle Abfüllung.

Schöne, markante Nase. Typisch Jamaikanische Noten von Trockenfrüchten, Vanille. Leichte Rauchnoten im Hintergrund. Gaumen: Alkohol lässt sich nicht verbergen und sorgt sofort für wohlige, langanhaltende Wärme. Dann kommen Lösungsmittel, Ester, Tropische Früchte und Rosine zum Vorschrin, gefolgt von Honig. Danach wird es leicht rauchig im Abgang neben den anhaltend fruchtigen Noten.
