Nobilis Diamond No. 42 DHE / PM 2014
Guyana fans who like a technical, ester-driven pot still will find plenty to chew on here. Dried figs, prunes, dates and toffee up front, with dark chocolate and roast underneath. A glue-and-vinegar hit fades with air, then an Oloroso cask takes over — a few tasters wish it stepped back a bit so the DHE/PM marks could show. Metallic edge and a "spannend würzig" spicy streak throughout.

How does Nobilis Diamond No. 42 DHE / PM 2014 taste?
Summarized by AI from community reviews.
Technical, Oloroso-heavy young Diamond Most find this a surprisingly round young Diamond — dried fruit, caramel, chocolate, and real character. The catch: the Oloroso can dominate and some pick up muffled, sulphury notes.

This is a surprising Diamond that challenges you, but in a positive sense. While the nose is still relatively restrained with a light ester and some fruit, it develops quite a broad range of aromas on the palate. Starting with a nice sweetness, changing to some fruit, lots of vegetal flavors (chestnut/pepper mix), smoky, spicy aromas and again some ester with metal... creamy and intense. Only the finish is somewhat unspectacular... I like it very much

Very interesting diamond, with its high ester profile. Nose: intensely spicy, dry-fruity and somehow different. At first I have a muted, musty impression, which is underlined by a sulphurous, waxy aroma reminiscent of shiitake mushrooms. The sweetish scent of dried dates and prunes also matches this. The Oloroso cask comes through clearly. A pleasant freshness of lime can also be heard in the background. A little too much sherry, but still good. 8.0 Palate: Unexpectedly tart and sharp, almost metallic. Lime with red currant and sour cherry. In addition, this time in the background, this slightly musty, sulphurous, shiitake mushroom-like taste. Slightly spicy and a little smoky on the finish. Again, different and therefore interesting, but I don't find it really tasty. 7,7

#4608 10.02.2024 tasting event at the Nobilis Warehouse, Haderslev. This is a very well rounded rum considering its age. A big surprise and many bought a bottle to bring home. Nose Light wood and roasted notes, faint smoke, fruity, round, light medicinal. Palate Well rounded, light wood and roasted notes, fruity, round, balanced, light caramel, anise. Finish Medium long, wood, light roasted, round, raisin, chocolate.

The nose is dominated by dried fruit (mainly fig), accompanied by fruitiness, wood, plum, roasted notes, some glue and toffee. Similar on the palate but more balanced and rounded. I like it very much.

Bought this bottle based on the reviews, so thanks! First impression: interesting Guyana, there’s a lot going on. Sweet, sour, fruit, spices and wood. Not necessarily in that order. Looking forward to explore it some more!

Freshly poured, the smell is dominated by ester glue notes mixed with a hint of vinegar, which fades into the background with some resting time and makes room for a fairly rich abundance of aromas. Unfortunately, the Oloroso cask is a bit too dominant and the finish a bit arbitrary, but otherwise it's quite an exciting profile I'd like to try more of.

This is the second time I've tasted it. The first time I didn't like it at all, perhaps because it wasn't sufficiently aerated... I found a damp woodiness unpleasant. On the second tasting, it's still complicated for me. I did manage to pick up some more positive notes: dark chocolate and coffee. The finish is what I liked best.

01-03-2025 - Rate 8.4 Nobilis is one of my favorite brands. They almost deliver every time. And this one is no exception. Guyana also one of my top 3 countries. The young rum compliments the slightly low ABV of 54,3% were good. 31-07-2025 - Rate 8.3 Second time tasting this young Diamond. It’s a very good glass. High value for money. Special price in web shop 110 € On smell I have dried fruit, raisins and dades with a metallic hint. Ofthe I have this when it’s a PM. Plate I have dried fruit, wood, roast and slight hint of cumin. 25-09-2025 - Rate 8.2 06-02-2026 - Rate 8.1

Nobilis 54.3 2014 dhe/pm. Amazingly round for its young age, better than the dhe/pm from sbs. lots of molasses, more depth and complexity.

The High Ester profile is very exciting
Review by Djehey
Mixed opinion on this one. The profile is original: it reminds me of a plum brandy with caramel and chocolate. Nevertheless, there's a rather strong medicinal (ether-like) note on the nose and palate that I don't find very pleasant.

Here is the next Diamond. Also very tasty again. Tastes and smells a little like medicine. Dried plum, dates and apricots are clearly recognizable. A little spicy in the finish, but very interesting.
Review by crazyforgoodbooze
Very tasty and round "young" Diamond. Raisin and other dried fruits, caramel, pepper and dark chocolate. Nevertheless, quite dry and woody with a slight acidity reminiscent of lime in the finish.

Honestly, there are already better bottlings from this vintage, as far as I remember. This one is good but unfortunately not outstanding. The typical markers are recognizable but a bit too metallic for me.

Trade fair review at the Nobilis booth GRF 2026. So short review. Immediately a very spicy nose. Interestingly reminded me somewhat of the 88er Cuban from the Rum Club. You have to get used to it. Along with Demerara sweetness and light wood. On the palate, matching aromatics extended with pickled raisins and a certain older dry sherry or Madeira note. Looking at the reviews, there is no consensus but a wide spread. Not surprising given the aromatics.

Prune and caramel. Raisin, a fair dose of wood. Pours dark orange amber. In the mouth sharp spicy tangerine, lemon zest. Maybe a little tobacco. Spicy long finish. Pleasant all around. Some tar and blue. Sample thanks to xamsx.

Tried at GFR 2025. Great! At home, in peace: Strong oloroso influence. PM hard to find. Noticeable high ester. Oloroso dominates. Let it breathe a bit, then the slightly sharp alcohol fades away. With the second glass, you get the impression the palate sticks to the tongue. Tasty, but hard to distinguish from other products aged in oloroso. Looking forward to the second batch, which will be further aged in Guyana casks (Nobilis). Maybe the sweetness and DHE will fade and especially PM will come to the surface!

Tasted at German rum festival Excellent rum. Bought a bottle. Price quality wise a fantastic rum. It surprises the Guyana 19 in this sense.

Vintage 2014. With 8.6 out of 10 it belongs to the better ones that have come into my glass.
Review by Buddudharma
Quite solid on the nose and in the first sip, but a little musty, sulphurous notes dominate towards the end, which I don't really like. Not a bad rum, but also nothing I would need a bottle of.
