What surprises people here is how much the oak leads: after 12 years in cask this Worthy Park reads more woody than funky, with ripe banana, caramel and a thread of tobacco underneath. The 50% "knalls" in, as one German taster put it, but it's well integrated. One reviewer even walked his early hype score back — good, not a flavour bomb.

Quite a nice Worthy Park. I think you can tell it's 13 years old right away, predominantly woody and smelling of oak, I can also detect some caramel. On the palate there is also a lot of wood and oak, but also some tobacco.

Quickly rating the house brand from Worthy Park before the bottle runs out.😉 This one has little to do with the Jamaican style I know. Lots of wood, spice, and tobacco from start to finish. On the nose, some dried apricots and a little caramel, that’s it. The finish is dry and feels smoky. Nothing I would need a second bottle of.

A well-balanced and enjoyable Worthy Park with tropical fruits, banana and dried apricot alongside caramel, vanilla and tobacco. Oak, roasted notes and gentle spice add depth, while the medium finish remains pleasantly fruity and woody

My second Worthy Park tasting, this one is little more complex and stronger than Single Estate Reserve I tasted some time ago. The higher ABV did its job. The alcohol is well integrated resulting in a smooth and complex experience.

This is a rum that clearly stands out from other Jamaicans, less Esters, which gives it a softer aromatic profile, on the nose it's very woody caramel and on the palate dried fruits, banana, oak bark dominate. The finish is a bit too light for my taste.

Edit: 7 months later and as I experience it more in comparison with other bottles in my collection, I feel my initial 8.7 score was a bit hasty. While it is definitely a nice sipper, it just doesn't have that full on flavour punch I once thought it had. Nose: Dates, light varnish, woody spice, caramel, slight shoe polish, ripe banana peel, nutty, light burnt rubber, bacon Mouth: Burst of banana, pineapple, melon, vanilla, black peppercorn, honey Finish: Very sustained flavour and heat. Lasts for a lengthy finish. Nose is slightly reserved and takes some time to work out the notes. But the mouth is just awesome. It really delivers a nice punch of flavour and is highly enjoyable. The finish maintains the flavours nicely and eases off very gradually.

Really pleasant, balancing moderate ester-banana notes with deep cask notes. On the nose, banana is strong, which carries throughout the palate and finish. The palate is slightly harsh, but very flavorful with caramel and wood. The finish is long, with early wood notes mellowing to caramel and banana.
