T.D.L Plantation Trinidad Mezcal Cask (Luxembourg Shops) 2016
Grapefruit peel, lime and a clear smoky-mineral mezcal streak run through this Trinidad column-still rum, and the two sides genuinely share the glass rather than fight. One taster warns the palate scrapes the tongue "jak šmirglpapír" before settling into fruit, then the cask brings roasted notes to a dry, slightly hot finish. Members like the pairing but wish it had more depth.

The look inside the bottle
How does T.D.L Plantation Trinidad Mezcal Cask (Luxembourg Shops) 2016 taste?
Aggregated from 10 community reviews.
Smoky mezcal-cask Trinidad, citrusy and dry A clever mezcal-and-TDL combination that works, with a recurring reservation: it drinks a touch thin and short, and several wanted more punch or age.

citrus in the aroma, especially grapefruit peel the taste is brutal after a few seconds, it scratches the tongue like sandpaper, but then it passes and a pleasant fruity taste remains very impressive and intense 51%!

Wow, what is that? What a cool thing that is. I've never had mescal finish in a glass before. Both the base and the finish are clearly recognizable. Neither really dominates. Both complement each other quite well. Possibly even better with a little more oomph. Thanks @TheDunderhut for the sample.

In contrast to other, diluted and cask finished Trinidad Distillers, the beautiful original distillate can still be clearly found here. The mezcal complements it. As a Trinidad fan, I really like this bottling. Slightly alcoholic finish as a drop of bitterness.
Review by Johannes
The mezcal influence is clearly present. The typical tdl profile can also be tasted. A little flat at the beginning. Could do with longer storage.

An interesting combination that works well. Beautifully balanced nose. In the mouth first a slight sweetness with bitter orange, dry and towards the finish comes the barrel with roasted flavors. The whole thing is a little thin but still good. I am positively surprised.
