The nose is excellently fruity, woody, sweet and complex; on the palate I find the wood and spices take a bit of the lead. The finish is quite long on cocoa, tannins, and tropical fruits.

Tasted at the very beginning of RhumFest Paris 2025. And it's again a superb HSE bottling. The alcohol level is perfect. The woodiness present and melted at the same time. Spices, fruit, tobacco. You could spend quite some time deciphering it and yet it remains easy to drink. Top.

🔹 HSE 2006 – bottled in 2022 – 47.8% This strength, 47.8%, has been a signature since the first vintage in 1998: the HSE team found it to be the perfect balance and have stuck with it ever since. 👉 Nose: cocoa, coffee, and superb fruity notes. 👉 Palate: straightforward attack, silky texture, true to the nose. 👉 Finish: long, spicy, with beautiful complexity. A great Martinican classic, and honestly... it’s very, very good!
