Old varnished oak up front, then a surprising fruit turn — overripe banana, mango, a little pineapple, licorice and light tar underneath. This is a softer take on Uitvlugt: the 45% keeps it very drinkable but also thins the body. Several tasters loved the fruit-vs-wood push-pull; others found it light and a touch simple for an 18-year Demerara.

German Rum Festival 2025. A very woody nose but surprisingly fruity with banana and overripe pineapple and even some esters. The first sip is clearly diluted and seems sweet, but the aromas then develop with this opposition of fruits/esters vs old varnished wood. The finish is rather balanced with wood and fruits equally. A balanced, interesting rum with nice drinkability, even if its structure is rather simple.

A little thin but still underrated in my opinion. Brine, tea, vanilla and fruit with some aniseed in a nice balance. Then a little quiet on the palate ... as you would expect. But the flavor is still there

#6639 11.04.2026 Getting my palate ready for the tasting tonight at Whisky Watcher. Listening to some nice tracks by Ruben de Ronde, Dhuka and Ranji on Spotify. Pretty decent rum and the price tag is also OK. The nose is round with nice notes of licorice, cherry, light tar, mango, light olive and honey. The palate is medium intense and faint floral with mango, light licorice, a burnt note, olive and light salt. The finish is extremely long, dry and warm with light mango, anis, light tar and a faint earthy note.

Pretty well balanced. The low degrees break up the very smoky, alcoholic side often found in this distillery's bdf, bringing out a fruitier profile without losing power and length.

Very good. When nosing it’s very hard to resist the urge to empty the glass. The 45% make it very drinkable.
