"Fass und Holz kommen durch, aber nicht zu extrem" — that's the whole story here. Roasted, nutty wood on the nose with burnt sugar and a faint meaty edge, then a mild, fresh palate that stays dry and lightly tannic. A few tasters actually pick the walnut cask out; others miss it entirely. Impressive restraint for a rum barely over three years old.

7,6:On the nose, the first impression we get is heavy with roasted, smoky wood with burnt sugar, butterscotch, nuts, meaty notes, buttery, spicy, dried fruits, as the molasses is herbaceous, flowery. 7,2:On the palate, the attack is dry, bitter with roasted oak notes like chocolate, cocoa, caramel, slightly meaty, smoky, spicy, resinous, fruits like dried and citrus, herbaceous molasses. 7,1:The finish is medium long, dry&tannic, with roasted, smoky and resinous, spicy oak, nutty, dried and red fruits.

Today the last 3 of the Wagemutt Fasssprache, here number 15 the walnut barrel. I like this one very much. Barrel and wood come through, but not too extreme and I can also clearly taste the walnut barrel. Solid.

Walnut: Also very mild again and no particularly intense standout aromas to be found. However, milder than the chestnut barrel, I think. Overall, I'd say a rather neutral wood with a slightly bitter-sweet touch...

15th tasting of Wagemut cask language WALNUT Nose is nicely nutty and roasted with an unusual undertone. Mouth very mild, very fresh, also here a somewhat unusual undertone, a kind of herbal mix, taste for salad? Definitely tastes very good, slightly bacon-like, meaty for sure. The finish remains rather meaty and nutty. For the short aging time absolutely good in taste.
