Wagemut Fasssprache: French Oak Rum N. 03 2023

Opinions land all over the place on this one, mostly because it's an experiment first and a sipper second: the same young Trinidad base rum given six extra months in French oak. Reviewers get vanilla, maple syrup and a soft apricot-citrus sweetness on the nose, then woody, nutty spice with nutmeg and a touch of licorice. Fuller and rounder than the raw base, but still young and spirit-forward at 62.5%.

Aggregated from 12 community reviews.

Young French-oak cask experiment, spice-driven Most treat it as a fascinating cask-comparison project rather than a great standalone rum. The French oak adds roundness and sweetness, though a few feel the young base still shows through.

Fasssprache N. 03 French Oak vs. N. 01 Basis Rum.

Insgesamt etwas feiner, aber No. 2 gefiel mir besser.
