N. Kröger Wagemut Fasssprache: Caucasian Oak Rum N. 07 2023

Part of a for-fun experiment: one Trinidad base rum split across sixteen different oak casks, and this is the Caucasian oak version. Six extra months in new Caucasian oak darkened it a lot and pushed the fruit from lime and green apple toward passionfruit and maple-syrup sweetness. The palate turns woody and spicy — nutmeg, licorice, a salty-smoky "speckige" bacon note. At 63% the alcohol runs a touch hot, and several tasters wished the cask had a bit longer to settle in.

The community says
  • Earthy Caucasian oak

How does N. Kröger Wagemut Fasssprache: Caucasian Oak Rum N. 07 2023 taste?

Aggregated from 10 community reviews.

Woody, spicy cask-experiment rum at full proof Most rate it fair rather than special — an interesting cask-experiment pour more than a standalone bottle. Fun to explore, but the young base and hot alcohol hold it back.

Fasssprache N. 07 Caucasian Oak vs. N. 01 Basis Rum.
