Opinions land around "interesting more than great" — this is one experiment in a 16-cask project, and members treat it that way. Aged an extra six months in Kiri wood, it stays close to the young base: recognizable oak, black currant, green apple, a clear tobacco note that runs into the finish, salty-peppery underneath. At 62.7% the alcohol reads well integrated. Several tasters wanted a longer rest.

Got it from Michael, what can I say. Doesn't really convince me, the high-proof cask character, unfortunately. Wood is at least recognizable, also some spice, but that certain something is missing here. Quite okay, that's it.

Wagemut Fasssprache Project (Cask Strength) It’s to be expected that for such a project the best possible rum isn’t used. The base rum is comparatively spritzy without special characteristics. 1st Flight: Base Rum / all Oaks Interesting how much the differences are between individual oak types. Mizunara surprised me especially. 2nd Flight: Base Rum / Special Woods Insanely different, everything from bad to good was included. Many thanks for this interesting project.

Absolutely great project. I only learned about it through the Rum X action. A lot of fun to explore. The YT videos are also mega informative. Good choice of base product, good alcohol integration. American: classic 6.3 German: spicy-woody 6.6 French: velvety-oily 7.3 Kiri: surprise 7.4 Mizunara: good complexity 7 Walnut: little influence 6 Chestnut: not so distinctive 6 Mulberry: iodine/smoky 6.2 Cherry: dense 6.8 Pear: normal 6 Ash: orange 6.1 Tokaji: sawdust Caucasian: woody, fruity, fresh 6.4 Carpatian: European Bourbon 7.4 Acacia: multilayered 7 A somewhat longer maturation would have been even better to bring out the nuances more. But you have to manage that first. Overall, there are already considerable differences in how it has developed. Hats off for the project, very fun and interesting.

Cask language No. 13 Kiri vs. No. 01 Base Rum. The additional 6 months in the new-make Kiri wood cask only darkened the color by 3 levels. This could be due to the fast-growing wood... Nose: still very similar to the base, though a bit woodier. Goes towards young wood like balsa or straw. A caramel sweetness and a hint of tobacco come in. Slightly fruity, but not lime, rather currant and then green apple. Only subtle change, but okay. 7.2 Palate: much less bitter but equally salty-peppery and woodier-spicy like the base. However, the clear tobacco note right at the start, which remains into the finish, is different. Some nutmeg also comes in. For me, too close to the starting material. 7.0

Daring barrel language, the same base rum aged 16 times in barrels made from different woods. Very interesting project (thanks to Flo for sharing). Spicy with nice notes of black currants.
