One member first tasted this and was sure it was the best rum they'd had — then on a later pour the cherry had faded and rose and green herbs took over. That's the story here: a young Trinidad rum finished in wild-cherry wood, all cut roses, fine lemon and candied fruit on the nose, turning green, herbal and licorice-laced on the palate. At 62.8% the alcohol sits surprisingly integrated. Unusual, and the rose won't be for everyone.

Elfte probe der Wagemut Fassprache: KIRSCHE als ich sie das erste mal probiert habe war ich sofort sicher das ist das geilste was ich bis dato hatte. Heute : die nase sagt mir jetzt schon oooohhh jaaa das wird wieder richtig gut. Ich kann einfach nicht aufhören daran zu riechen. Der erste schluck.....ich bin verwiert beim ersten mal hatte ich so viel kirsche im mund ....jetzt eher Rosen und was grünens hmmm was ist passiert ? Der abgang verändert sich eigentlich nicht .... Immer noch ein super Rum nur nocht mehr so wie ich ihn in erinnerung hatte

Cask language No. 11 Cherry vs. No. 01 Base Rum. The additional 6 months in a new-make wild cherry cask have darkened the color by 5 levels. Nose: a very interesting transformation and quite different from all previous ones. Much more elegant and delicate, no alcoholic bite at all. Instead of prominent lime, now very fine lemon with passion fruit. Above all, it feels fresh, intense like freshly cut rose stems, that's special. Only then come slightly candied fruits, like in fruit bread. I like it very much. 8.0 Palate: also totally different here, the base is hardly recognizable. Dominant, as on the nose, is rose! But more like rose stems. Right next to it plenty of licorice. Overall it feels rather green-herbal-spicy. That's really interesting, but for me clearly too much rose. 7.2.

Wagemut Cask Language Project (Cask Strength). It is to be expected that for such a project the best possible rum is not used. The base rum is comparatively spirited without special characteristics. 1st Flight: Base Rum / all Oaks. Interesting how much the differences are with individual oak types. Mizunara surprised me especially. 2nd Flight: Base Rum / Special Woods. Insanely different, everything from bad to good was there. Many thanks for this interesting project.

Wagemut barrel language, 16 times the same base rum aged in barrels made from different types of wood. Very interesting project (thanks to Flo for sharing). Oh, very interesting. On the nose very fresh, floral and somehow fruitier than all previous barrels. I like it very much.

Absolutely great project. Just learned about it through the Rum X action. Lots of fun to explore. The YT videos are also super informative. Good choice of base product, good alcohol integration. American: classic 6.3 German: spicy-woody 6.6 French: velvety-oily 7.3 Kiri: surprise 7.4 Mizunara: good complexity 7 Walnut: little influence 6 Chestnut: not so defining 6 Mulberry: iodine/smoky 6.2 Cherry: dense 6.8 Pear: normal 6 Ash: orange 6.1 Tokaji: sawdust Caucasian: woody, fruity, fresh 6.4 Carpatian: European Bourbon 7.4 Acacia: multifaceted 7 A somewhat longer maturation would have been even better to bring out the nuances more. But that has to be managed first. Overall, there are already remarkable differences in how it developed. Hats off for the project, very fun and interesting.

Dieses Finish ist ein besonders eleganter Zugang zur Fasssprache-Serie. Es zeigt, wie selbst seltene Hölzer wie Kirschbaum eine feine, florale und fruchtige Tiefe verleihen können - ohne klassische süße Vanille- oder Eichenakzente. Stattdessen entsteht ein duftig-grünes, aromatisches Erlebnis, das über die Basis hinaus eine ganz neue, charaktervolle Dimension gewinnt.
