05.04.2024 Mount Gay Extreme Rare online tasting mit Dirk. Retasting and I stick to my score. Again this one needs to rest and the result is a very smooth and elegant rum with perfect ABV integration. ----------------------- A wonderful rum staying true to Barbados and its flavours. Woody with fruit and spices from nose to finish. Medium complex wit a little caramel. I do like the oily roasted/smoky touch on the palate. Price to quality is very good.

Very nice nose with honey, fruits and vanilla (rise) pudding accompanied by some herbs and spices. Has the upper hand compared to the RA 2000 Rockley, given a little higher intensity based on higher ABV.

Tag 21 im Kalender und ich hab es nicht als Barbados erkannt. Sondern ihn nach einem Tropfen im Glas gleich in Jamaika verortet, es war einfach gleich Funk im Glas und ich hätte Banane in der Nase. Dazu etwas Aprikose. Am Gaumen aber dann viel Kräuter und der Rum hat dabei eine schöne Cremigkeit, vielleicht sogar etwas dickflüssiger; im Abgang sorgen die Röstnoten für leichte Bitterkeit, die wird aber gut ausgelichen von der stets präsenten Honignote. Wo haben die den Barbados typischen Kokosgeschmack bloß versteckt.🤷🏻♂️ Vermisse ich hier allerdings gar nicht. Sehr schöner Tropfen. 🥃👌

RumX Advendskalender 21.12.21: Verwirrung auf mehreren Ebenen😂 Ich wurde das Gefühl nicht los den Rum zu kennen, habe die App durchgeforstet, aber nichts gefunden. Nach der Auflösung war es mir klar. Den Rum hatte ich bereits, aber nicht in der App notiert🤦🏼♂️ Deshalb…nicht erkannt. Verwirrung auch beim Tasting (war mein erster Rockley bislang). Die Nase fand ich nicht sehr schön. Sehr gemüselastig (kenne ich von Savannas). Im Mund dann schön, komplex und ein sehr eigenes Aromaprofil. Im Mund war ich dann bei Worthy Park. Edit: Insgesamt ein spannender Tropfen mit einigem zu entdecken. Schmeckt mir je länger je besser.

#21 RumXCalendar Blind tasting: N: Fruity esters, mango, roasted, honey, wood M: fruity esters, mango, smoky, chocolate, honey, dry, balanced F:dry, cedar wood, delicious, smoky Prediction: this could be a jamaican or Fiji rum, approx. 55% and approx. 10 years …. When i took the first sip it was more like a jamaican, after 30 minutes it opens up like a smoke bomb. Very delicious/overall smoky good balanced rum. Alcohol is intergrated very well. Nose: ester, fruity, mango, anise, apricot, smoky, woody, nutty, cardamom, roasted, oak, Mouth: delicious, balanced, dry, woody, raisins, black pepper, coffee, cocoa, milk chocolate, vanilla, honey Finish: medium, dry, delicious, (a lot of) smoke, barrel, cedar wood, vanilla, honey, tannins,

Nachklapp zum gestrigen Rum-Depot Tasting: den Rest vom Plantation eingeschenkt im Vergleich mit dem Cave Guildive WIRD 2000. Beide mit einem rauchig-torfigen Grundton, dazu die Rockley-Honig-Note. Beim Plantation habe ich aber noch fruchtige Noten Richtung Nektarine oder Mango und Vanille. Der CG wirkt dagegen etwas eindimensionaler und auch etwas bissig. Der höhere ABV (56%) des CG wirkt nicht zum Vorteil. Am Gaumen dann umgekehrte Vorzeichen. Der Plantation wirkt mit seinen 47,8% leider etwas dünn (so wie auch schon der RA WIRD 2000). Wegen der Klasse Nase bleibt der Plantation aber mein Sieger.

Probiert auf dem 12. GRF in Berlin: Typischer 2000er WIRD, das Rockley-Profil ist vorhanden, wenn auch weniger stark als beim 86er. Ganz lecker, aber für mich etwas preislich zu hoch. Update 14.07.24: Im Cross-Tasting mit dem RA ein Kopf-an-Kopf-Rennen. Frisch im Glas war der RA vorne, mit mehr Zeit entfaltet der Cave Guildive aber seine Stärke und zieht sehr knapp vorbei. Kann natürlich nicht mal annähernd mit den 86ern mithalten, aber das Profil an sich stimmt immerhin. Trotzdem ein schöner Sipper für zwischendurch, wenn man ihn zu gutem Preis bekommen konnte.

RumX-Adventskalender, 21.12., blind. Erster Eindruck: frisch im Glas Fiji, nach etwas Zeit aber eher Guyana, hätte auf einen PM mit 12 Jahren und ca. 60% getippt. Nase: intensiv und komplex mit einer feinen holzigen Würze. Ich finde eine leichte Dose Pfeffer, Muskat und Nelke. Darüber liegt ein Hauch geriebene Zitronenschale und etwas Essig. Das ist noch etwas medizinisches in Richtung Pflaster oder Mullbinde. Durchaus interessant und nicht üblich. Gaumen: trocken und holzig, salzig und leicht bitter. Kräftig würzig mit Muskat und einer leichten Umami-Note. Und etwas wie frisch geschnittenes, grüner Ast. Dennoch wirkt er irgendwie verdünnt und nicht so tief. Ich finde noch leicht Limette und etwas Karamell. Am Ende ist es ein 2000er Rockley. Nicht der beste, aber der Stil gefällt!

Tag 21 RumX Adventskalender: Mein Tipp ging wegen den medizinischen und leicht metallischen Honignoten erst mal nach Fiji, aber da sind ja die Kräuter und der Tee. Doch Guyana? Alkoholisch bleibt er. Kein Plan... Auf Barbados und WIRD wäre ich mal wieder nicht gekommen.

21. Tag im RX Kalender. Mein Tip war ein Savanna. Geruch: Honig, Karamell, Gewürze, Zimt, Piment, Kardamom. Aber auch eine gewisse Rauchnote. Im Geschmack auch viel Honig, Gewürze und Fassnoten. Gefällt mir gut. Ein Rum passend zur Jahreszeit (Winter).
