These Bielle agricole casks spent ten months submerged 20 metres under the sea, and the seawater soaked right in: cane juice, orange, minerals, and salt so heavy one taster called it "salted liquorice, almost umami." Some find it fascinating, others "écœurant" (sickening). Young, briny, and unlike anything else in the glass.

Tasted at Village '26 together with DomM. Definitely a crazy piece from Vagabond. It's 100 percent, even 200 percent, a divisive rum. I swing from totally undrinkable to actually it's somehow really cool. Flavors you've never had in the glass before. Cool experiment but one bottle of it would be too much. But nice to have tried it.

Ouch ouch ouch, why so much seawater? Ok that’s kind of the point but it’s clearly a great rum, with a pretty nice MG, but in the mouth you drink the cup (get overwhelmed). Still the cane comes back with chocolate and quite a bit of orange, but the salt stays on the tongue and coats too much. Too bad the ingredients were there, but not well enough balanced.

Interesting story behind this rum, but the saltiness significantly overpowers everything, it slightly fades over time but then emphasizes everything again. This sample didn't really excite me.

Wow, what is this? The nose leaves at best a shy impression of roasted nuts, light fruit notes, and iodine; on the palate, the latter breaks through quite dominantly and appears alongside brown caramel as the primary aroma. There are also hints of young wood, vanilla, and sugarcane. The profile feels unbalanced; overall, besides the very present iodine aroma, which even turns waxy-soapy in the finish, it lacks both complexity and balance.

Two drums plunged into the open sea at a depth of 20 meters... it could have been a good test. But in my opinion, it's a complete failure here, and it's really disgusting. In my opinion, the salinity provided by the seawater is too present and distracting, and the rum is too young and has only taken on the salt, or almost all of it. Nothing else, no length in the mouth, in short a big disappointment... and what an affront to Bielle!

A basic white Bielle rum (Marie-Galante), aged for 10 months in 2 distinct barrels submerged 20 meters deep under the sea. These 2 distinct barrels respectively contained: - Barrel No.1: Bielle white 60° - Barrel No.2: Bielle white 45° During 10 months under the sea, each rum lost 10% alc/vol due to slow and natural reduction by natural absorption (by capillarity) of seawater by the barrels. - Barrel No.1: Bielle white 60° ➡️ 50° - Barrel No.2: Bielle white 45° ➡️ 35° ℹ️ The rums from the 2 barrels were blended, resulting in 49% alc./vol. I can guarantee you 200% that this is an atypical rum, very focused on citrus (orange) and salty cane (I don't mean salty notes, but really SALT!)... salt in abusive quantity! You have to like it! As if someone purposely salted the rum 😅 and personally I didn't like it, it becomes disturbing and sickening. Since the seawater was well absorbed by the barrels during 10 months... it makes sense that the rum is so salty, especially since one of the 2 barrels had a crack that allowed more seawater to infiltrate the rum.

An explosive rum. There's no comparison, and the tasting is unsettlingly pleasurable. There's greediness, roundness and the markers of bielle.
