Anyone who finds most agricoles too dry and sharp should meet this one. It's a Reunion cane-juice rum that lands softer than expected — honey and yellow fruit like apricot up front, a grassy, herbal backbone underneath, and only a light dusting of spice and oak. Several tasters were surprised by the sweetness and the long finish that reads like herbal tea with honey.

Overall a great well rounded Rhum Agricole that’s surprisingly sweet with a very long finish that bears clear traces of its aging in former cognac. This Rhum Agricole Single Cask from the Savanna distillery in Reunion, distilled 2010 in their Savalle Still is aged for 8 years and 3 months in former Cognac casks of French oak. It’s limited to just 679 bottles and have an ABV of 48.1%.

Pleasing rum with enough spectrum not to become boring. The maturation in ex-Cognac barrels brings in a nice fruity note paired with oily honey sweetness, which provides an interesting counterpoint to the freshness of the relatively young Agricola. Blind I would probably have guessed a few years more maturation, which in this case speaks for the rum. Nice entry rum.

02.04.2020 Had a nice tasting with my friends at a very nice hotel. Notes. Light in colour. Nose: fresh, light wood, herbs, orange, earthy, raisin. Palate: wood, vegetal, clove, citrus, nuts, herbs. Finish: medium to long, fresh, nuts, dried fruit, tea.

My first Savanna and I'm positively surprised. On the nose still typical Agricole with focus on herbs and a bit smoky leather, but on the palate not really dry/sharp, rather sweet, fruity, moderately spiced and fairly mild. Floral notes are always present. Pleasant and long-lasting finish that reminds of fruity herbal tea with honey.

Some vegetal notes, honey sweetness, fruity notes. Could have a bit more power, even though the rum doesn't seem watery. The finish isn't particularly long, but here again a nice honey note with herbs comes through.

Rums from the Savanna distillery are among my favorites. I recommend everyone try especially the ester-heavy pieces like Grand Arome or HERR. You haven't felt so much fruit in just a few drops of liquid for a long time.

I like it quite a bit, very round with yellow fruits and honey, almost reminds me a bit of the 2000s Rockleys (but missing the smoky part)
