Tasting of four 19th-century rums. A nose of very old Cuban cigar with tropical fruits (banana and pineapple) and quite marked woodiness. The entry on the palate is watery, unfortunately very diluted. The rum is clearly cloudy and probably not at its best. Lots of wood here too. The finish is very short, you feel the alcohol, which was not noticeable before. A rum with a pretty nice nose, but disappointing on the palate, probably oxidized due to a slightly permeable cork. For the rating, it doesn't deserve much more than 5.5 but it's hard to give such a bad score to such an old rum.

Just from the looks this rum isn't in the best shape of it's life. There is a simple but nice nose of tobacco licorice and tannins. Unfortunately this falls apart on the palate. Just the residue of a cask long gone, watery and then disappearing in the palate. There maybe was a nice rom there long ago, but alas it is gone
