Sipped neat, this old Italian-bottled Jamaican drinks light and short — nothing like the loud pot-still funk the island is known for now. The nose leans toward fruit brandy: mirabelle, cherry, something floral and almost perfumy. On the palate it thins out, then turns sweet and honeyed on a surprisingly long finish. A couple of tasters caught old plastic and dust; most call it a curiosity worth trying more than a bottle to hunt down.

Nikis and Artur's Jamaican adventures part 2. First of all, a big thank you again for the chance to have such rarities in the glass. To get straight to the point, Jamaican rum decades ago was not the rum you know from Jamaica today, but still very interesting to try. These are not really top-notch, but still more than drinkable.

A rum from the series “Niki’s and Artur's Jamaican Adventures Part 2”. Like dust on the nose, with plastic, port or rather sherry. Few esters. On the palate the unpleasant side of plastic reappears, with still sherry, yellow fruits and a floral side. Not a bad rum, but the taste and smell of old plastic bother me.

Still somewhat more appealing on the nose than on the palate. Notes of overripe tropical fruits, though still relatively moderate, along with impressions of barrel aging. On the palate, probably due to dilution, noticeably flatter. Overall rather unspectacular, though I can’t shake the feeling that more would have been possible with higher strength in this bottling.

Chemically on the nose, herbal notes like in fruit brandies. On the palate then light honey, some smoke, some rubber. But I like it. Light style that reminds me of watered-down 86er Rockleys. Jamaica not recognizable. The rum gets sweet towards the end.

Nikis and Arturs Jamaican Aventurien No2. Short appearance whether nose or palate. Some fruit and sugar syrup vanilla. Relatively much sweetness. Floral, almost flowery nose, slightly perfumed. Very little alcohol, I think under 40%.

Smells strongly like a fruit brandy. Something between mirabelle and cherry brandy. On the palate that's completely gone and it becomes very sweet. Nice that this sweetness can last very long on the finish.

It doesn't smell very intense, but the notes remind me of fruit brandy, quite sweet but very weak. Taste-wise, that is not confirmed. It is rather spicy. And a bit darker with a natural sweetness.
