8,2:On the nose, esters and glue, solvents, funky, smoky wood with marzipan, almonds, fruitcake, some peat, overripe tropical fruits like banana, pineapple, grilled, citrus fruits, pears, some candied, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, pungent, fermented notes arise with cheese, dairy, the molasses is fresh, grassy, herbaceous, red fruits come out, spices like vanilla, some bacon. 7,9:On the palate, the attack is intense, funky, dry, with medicinal notes like esters, glue, peated whisky notes, smoky bacon, briny olive, hay, cigar tobacco, the fruits are tropical like pineapple, banana, red and berries, some candied, as the wood brings roasted nuts, chocolate, spicy touch. 7,8:The finish is long, dry&acidic, medicinal with esters, funky, metallic, as peated whisky notes pair spicy oak, various fruits and grassy, flowery molasses.

Phew... On the nose still typical Hampden with lots of fruit and only subtle smoke and some marzipan. On the palate then extremely much smoke, peat, bacon and Islay whisky aroma. In my opinion, it almost completely destroys the Hampden and doesn't fit together harmoniously at all... Sorry, but that doesn't appeal to me at all.

At first I'm confused: the label on the bottle states the alcohol content as 59.6%. On my sample, however, it says 69.8%. Coincidentally, exactly the same as the Elements Water. I guess the intern wasn't paying attention! The nose immediately reveals the Jamaican origin. Hampden esters without end! However, I mustn't smell too deeply into the glass - the alcohol hits me hard! At most, I can only detect a hint of smoke on the nose. The start on the palate is incredibly strong and the smoke is there too! Less medicinal but more in the direction of a campfire and fortunately not overpowering. After the smoke, there are flashes of sweet oranges. Overall very impetuous and sharp-edged. The influence of the whisky cask becomes even clearer towards the finish - but does not dominate the impression. As with many young Hampden bottlings, the finish is long but quickly loses its intensity. Although I'm not usually a fan of whisky-rum hybrids, I think this bottling is a successful experiment. The whisky influence remains subtle and underlines the "fire" in the name with the smoky note.
