Agricole drinkers who don't mind a heavy cask hand will get the most out of this one. A year in Madeira lays cherry, dried fruit and old port over the Poisson spirit, with wood, spice and a touch of licorice underneath. At nearly 62% it's warm but the alcohol mostly sits well; a few drops of water make it creamier. Several tasters wish the grassy sugarcane came through more.

02.03.2024 Retasting at the whiskymessen and I stick to my score. ------------------ #4597 26-27.01.2024 Tried this rum several times at the event because it's so nice and mellow and an atypical Agricole and especially from Pere Labat. A lovely and mellow rum and I ordered two bottles ☺️ Nose Elegant and fine, light wood and roasted notes, light, fruits, light caramel. Palate Oily, elegant, wood, light roasted, fruity, natural sweetness, faint Agricole notes. Finish Medium to long, wood, elegant, cherry, light herbs.

Ernsthaft? Das Finish (?) macht das Destillat vollständig platt. Süße, klebrig, eine komische kräutrige Unternote und dann wieder nur süß. Alkohol ist sehr schlecht eingebunden. Die vielen guten Bewertungen kann ich nicht nachvollziehen. Das Zeug schmeckt schlicht nach hochgesprittetem Süßwein.

Very dominant Madeira finish, which makes the rum very drinkable and produces beautiful dark, intense notes. Clearly not a complexity monster, but simply round and delicious - despite the strength of over 60%. I'll keep an eye out for a bottle here. ☺️🥃

Naja, woher dieser Rum die guten Bewertungen verschließt sich mir ein wenig. Meines Erachtens macht hier das Finish mal wieder alles kaputt. Erinnert mich ein wenig an diese Eigenabfüllung von RumParadies. Ich schmecke von dem Grundstoff sehr wenig. Hinzu kommt so eine komisch Kräuter/Mentholnote die irgendwo in Madeirawein endet mit einer unangenehmen Säure. Mal so gar nicht mein Geschmack. Gut, aber nicht gut genug für meinen Gaumen, zu medizinisch. Edit: Nochmal in Ruhe verkostet, ich bleib dabei, dieser holt mich nicht ab. Im Abgang bzw. Nachklang habe ich nur das säuerliche und bittere trockene Weinfass, nichts was annähernd an einen Rum erinnert

Die Nase eröffnet kräftig alkoholisch und mit reifen Kirschen! Der Alkohol ist schon recht stechend in der Nase aber die Kirschen gefallen mir sehr gut. Erster Eindruck am Gaumen leider auch sehr vom Alkohol geprägt. Dann Kirschen, Mandeln, Würze und Fass. Im Nach kommt noch ein wenig Lakritz dazu. Hmm, der kann mich nicht so richtig überzeugen. Die Kirschnote ist toll aber insgesamt ist er mir zu sprittig und scharf. Wenn im Nachklang die alkoholische Note abebbt ist er mir am angenehmsten. Gerade noch sehr gut.

Heute also der neueste Spalter-Rum ... Ja, diesem Rum schmeckt man in jeder Phase das fulminante Madeira-Finish an. Und ja, ich kann verstehen, dass dies nicht jedem recht ist, manchen ist es zu dominant. Ich gehöre zu der anderen Fraktion, mir schmeckt der Rum sehr gut, manchmal darf es eben auch mal etwas Süffiges sein. An der Nase habe ich neben der tief fruchtigen auch eine dezent rauchige Note, im Mund erinnert mich der Rum ein bisschen an den Geschmack von Weinbrandbohnen. Besonders auffallend ist, dass man den Alkohol trotz der 69,1% fast gar nicht spürt, er ist hervorragend eingebunden, das muss man erst einmal hinbekommen.. Fazit: Ein Rum, der nicht besonders anspruchsvoll ist, aber sich bestimmt sehr gut mit Freunden teilen lässt, die sonst eher wenig mit Rum zu tun haben. Insofern hat der Rum also eher das Potenzial, zu verbinden, statt zu spalten.

Was für eine Nase…. Schon länger nicht mehr so etwas Feines gehabt… ein Hauch von zartem Rosenduft, Kirsche, Kirschbaumholz, leichte Süße (Vanille) und altem Portwein, herrlich. Am Gaumen verteilt er sich cremig und weich, anfangs brauner Zucker/Karamell gefolgt von Sauerkirsche, roten Früchten, altem Portwein und einer leichten Mentholnote. Zudem nehme ich etwas Piment und Kirschbaumholz wahr. Der Alkohol trägt die Aromen warm und weich und verleiht eine angenehme Eleganz. Der Abgang stellt sich in einer weiteren Facette dar... pflanzlich, frisch und grasig, später wieder mit diesem Sauerkirscharoma… ich bin echt begeistert.. ein sehr komplexer und eleganter Rum

A wonderful, intense rhum that cheats a little ... tasted at the HanseSpirit 2024, and bought it immediately without thinking twice. Super aromatic and a highlight for me at the fair. Nose: full-bodied, intense, fully aromatic, simply delicious. Creamy and fruity, spicy and woody. It starts with a creamy base note that harmoniously envelops the fruit notes. Amarena cherry, gooseberry and kiwi with a hint of passion fruit. It also has a grapey, vinous aroma that is reminiscent of port wine. So this is where the one year in Madeira barrels comes into play. The 4 years in Cognac barrels beforehand also bring these beautiful fruity notes. Fragrant wood and cherry wood provide a spicy contrast. 9.1 Palate: full-bodied, aromatic, intense and delicious here too. It has a fairly sweet start with maple syrup and brown sugar. Then follows a light, salty spiciness with muted nutmeg and licorice, or even sweet, soft licorice, and lovely but again creamy fruit. Grape, sweet cherry, date and apricot. Very tasty and round. At some point in the finish, the sugar cane and a chamomile note actually come through, it is an Agricole after all. 9.1 A really good Guadeloupe; intense, aromatic and simply delicious, even if it clearly gets its aromas from the Cognac and Madeira barrels and therefore cheats a little in my opinion 😉

Bittere Noten, Alkohol nicht gut eingebunden. Das beste ist der Abgang. Insgesamt gefühlt schon oft erlebt. Ein mittelmäßiger Rum wird mit einem gehörigen Fasseinfluss eines Süssweins gefällig gemacht. Laaaangweilig!!!

Tolle Nase. Lösungsmittel, sehr würzig, etwas Keksteig bzw. Makronen und getrocknete Früchte. Rund, kräftig und leicht alkoholisch. Im Mund packt er dann ordentlich zu, da sprechen die 62%. Wieder sehr würzig. Mit ein paar Ttopfen Wasser wird er chremiger, ansonsten ist er zu stark.😳😳 Warmer, schöner Abgang. Würze, Keksteig, getrocknete Früchte. Nelke und Lakritze. Ein als Demerara verkleideter Neisson. 😎😎😎Super Rum! Danke nach Bonn!!

Gefällt mir schon viel besser dieser Agricole. Cooles Teil. Sehr holzig und würzig in der Nase, Portwein ist auf jeden Fall erkennbar. Am Gaumen dann eine leichte Süße (und das bei über 60% :-)). Aber auch leicht alkoholisch und Kirsche ist gut erkennbar.

A great agricole and likely in top 3 of what I have tasted so far. Feisty nose, that gives off some fruity and spicy hints after it has had some time in the glass. Plenty notes of fruits and berries, and an aftertaste of sugarcane and a woody taste

In der Nase wenig floral aber süßer Portwein und Würze. Im Mund dann kräuterig Kamille und Minze. Ich schmecke auch etwas Kirsche die sich bis in den Abgang zieht der leider kürzer als gedacht ist. Schöner Rum aber haut mich nicht um.

Beide Rums wie erwartet sehr fasslastig. Wer darüber hinweg sehen kann, wird an beiden seinen Gefallen finden. Der Sherry ist holzlastiger, bitterer, und der Alkohol ist schlechter eingebunden. Der Madeira ist süßer, aromatischer und gefälliger am Gaumen. Von Guadeloupe ist hier nicht mehr viel übrig, als handwerklich gemachte Dessert-Rums auf jeden Fall geeignet.

Temperamentvolle Nase, die einige fruchtige und würzige Noten verströmt, nachdem sie einige Zeit im Glas war. Viele Noten von Früchten und Beeren, und ein Nachgeschmack von Zuckerrohr und einem holzigen Geschmack.

Nase: Eine schöne Mischung aus gereiftem Agricole und der Würze aus dem Madeira-Fass. Ein wenig kommt auch der Alkohol durch. Gaumen: Er kommt auf den ersten Schluck etwas fassaufgeladen daher, aber das ist hier gar kein Problem. Typische Agricole-Noten und Madeira-Würze harmonieren hier einwandfrei. Aromen von Karamell und roten Früchten mit der typischen Agricole-Grasigkeit im Hintergrund bilden ein fantastisches Ergebnis, das noch lange am Gaumen nachhallt. Mit ein paar Tropfen Wasser wird er noch einmal geschmeidiger. Für die ganz große Kür fehlt ihm ein wenig das Alter und die Reife, aber ich bin sowas von froh, hier direkt eine Flasche mitgenommen zu haben. In der Vergangenheit konnte man (meiner Meinung nach zu Recht) öfter mal über Rom de Luxe und die aufgerufenen Preise schimpfen, aber für die 120€/Flasche Ausgabepreis ist das Ergebnis hier sehr fair und bekommt meine volle Empfehlung!

Sehr schöne, reife Nase mit Agricole-Noten. Am Gaumen überlagert das Madeira-Finish den Grundstoff. Man schmeckt schon leichte grasige Agricole-Noten, aber das Finish ist schon sehr präsent, auch wenn es prinzipiell gut harmoniert.

Hm, ich weiß nicht so recht was ich von dem halten soll. War der Velier Poisson 2010 noch schön stimmig ausbalanciert mit den Agricole-Noten gegen den Bratapfel/Vanille, kommt der RdL doch sehr süß (Konfekt) an der Nase daher, erinnert mich fast an A.H. Riise, dazu auch etwas alkoholstichig…so empfinde ich es auch am Gaumen. Das Sample reicht mir hier erstmal 😅

Sehr intensives Agricole-Brett. Schön würzig, gut Holz und sogar eine Spur Lakritz. Der Alkohol ist gut eingebunden. So richtig entfaltet er sich nach dem dem Sippen. Da geht nicht richtig was ab im Mund/Rachen. Der Bassd scho :-)
