#4652 10.03.2024 Relaxing at bit at home while my wife is out with a friend. Nose Wood, roasted, spice, fruity, plum, light citrus. Palate Wood, roasted, citrus, tannins, balanced, fruity, plum, spicy/warm. Finish Long and warm, wood, roasted, fruity, citrus. Draws nice slow moving curtains in the glass. The empty glass has some berries, dried fruit and olive notes to it.

Discovered at Rhum Fest 2025. 👃 Typical Saint James woodiness, concentrated and humid, spices, clove, cooking spices, plum, citrus, trace of cherry, roasting, chocolate, coffee and nuts. 😋 Damp wood, bitterness, tannins, warmth of fruit alcohol, citrus (candied zest), sweet plums. Rather balanced but lacks concentration and intensity, even at 43%, especially with this impression of eau-de-vie. ⛳ Average, warm despite the ABV, alcohol a bit too present, wood, roasting (nuts, light coffee), dried fruits and candied citrus. 💡 Overall I remain disappointed by this 18-year-old compared to the recommended retail price in mainland France (185🍒). It’s a blend of several barrels, all reduced to 43%, with an aromatic profile that seems a bit too light and soft to me.

A great success this 18-year-old, despite the years the wood does not overpower the other aromas... A little traditional rum side with this sugar present on the palate. Well integrated alcohol, prunes, spices (cloves), vanilla. For an 18-year-old at this price, I had a very good time.
