Aimed at drinkers who want a dry, layered blend rather than a sweet sipper, this Famille Ricci bottling marries Trinidad and Guyana rum. Expect leather, tobacco, dark chocolate and grapefruit, with a menthol-eucalyptus freshness running through it. The TDL side leads with fruit; the Guyana side brings wood, tar and spice. First the TDL shows itself with a very fruity nose. Then a menthol freshness. After that, the wood and darker notes like leather and spices appear. You clearly find the two origins of the blend. On the palate, the same sensation. The marriage is really successful. The two rums really harmonize and hold throughout the tasting. We have a very woody, roasted Guyana profile on leather that doesn’t overpower a more fruity TDL. The alcohol is perfectly integrated. Nice length, although I would have wanted even more. A very nice blend. Edit: first impression totally confirmed. Very nice selection and very good blend.

Wow, What a slap in the face! I was expecting a lot from this collaboration, but what we really got was an amazing blend. Overall, I find it very TDL-oriented (but it's the best rum of the moment, in my opinion...). Fruits, spices and wood on a heavy menthol base. Terrific.

Wow! From the first opening, passing the glass around the nose, the Trinidad Distillers Limited 2008 offers an explosion of freshness that unfolds in different forms; green mint leaf and lemon eucalyptus, camphor, tiger balm, Vicks vaporub. Then, some black berries like blackcurrant and blueberries. More delicate, the bourbon barrel aging reveals slightly meaty notes mixed with the smell of tanned products. I would even find some scattered notes of gasoline and engine oils. As for the "eye-flute" 2003, it gradually reveals itself on the nose with a compote of ripe peach and apricot. I distinguish a nice salted butter caramel that envelops the mouth, accompanied by bourbon vanilla cooked in butter in the pan, it's delightful. Later, on the nose, a damp woody side along an autumn wood. Beautiful integration of the alcohol with a reduction to 55° that magnifies the blend. It's warm on the palate. Again mint, milk chocolate, Espelette pepper, grilled apricot with thyme. Nice finale just as indulgent on Van Houten chocolate milk. If it had been longer, I would have given 90 and more.. Famille Ricci and the Facebook group Rums of Anarchy have concocted a very good marriage of 2 terroirs that I rarely see assembled. This blend, as the tasting progresses, allows both on the nose and on the palate to dive into the notable characteristics of TDL and Uitvlugt. Bravo 👏

Famille Ricci Alliance ROA This rum is a blend of English rums, a 50/50 mix of a TDL 2008 and an Uitvlugt 2003. Its color shows beautiful mahogany hues. Your alcohol content is 55%. It rested for an hour in the glass. 👃🏼 very TDL at first glance. You’re hit by medicinal notes (camphor, eucalyptus) mixed with black tea. On the fruity side, more like peaches. This fruity scent evolves towards blackberry accents as the tasting progresses. Leather and tar also take a significant place. Tiny hints of soap typical of Guyana, mixed with sandalwood, are in the background. All very harmonious. 👅 The alcohol is superbly integrated and you wouldn’t give it more than 45°. This rum obviously has a dominant TDL side, but the Guyana brings roundness and complexity. The menthol is definitely there but very gently. Leather dominates the scene, with vanilla and other mild spices. It’s a fresh rum. On the attack, you feel the acidity of a cherry that quickly fades, drowned in woodiness. 🎆 The finish is quite long but not endless, on tobacco like a cigar box, its spices, a bit of blackcurrant and mint. My score 90/100 I really enjoyed this tasting.

At first, the Tdl dominates largely, on the nose and on the palate as well.. After 30 minutes of airing, Guyana comes back strongly with spices and leather plus chocolate. Superb blend, great success 😋 It's indulgent, fruity, with a very nice length. The alcohol is perfectly integrated Lots of pleasure in this sample.

Very gourmand nose on tropical fruits, chocolatey and caffeinated pastries, then wood and solvents that give body. Mouth a bit less gourmand where grapefruit dominates from the start. Then the woodiness, spices and medicinal notes take place. Quite a long woody finish with always this grapefruit and a menthol-type freshness.

What a slap... This 2008 TDL cask is magical. There's everything in this rum. The only flaw for me might be the quite present bitterness and the slight lack of indulgence on the palate and finish. Apart from that, it's a little gem.

Great association between this TDL and this Uitluvgt! The nose is first oriented on the TDL with very fruity notes but you still feel the Guyana side with soft spicy wood. On the palate it's a fruity and woody bomb with a dose of menthol and leather. The finish is long and more oriented on the fresh side of menthol even if some fruit notes remain.
