English Harbour Reserve 10 Years
Drinkers who want a dry, oak-driven rum without added sugar will find plenty to like here. The nose leans fruity and vanilla-sweet, then the palate flips to woody, spicy and distinctly dry — one taster said it's "taken on the flavor of the barrel, almost like a whiskey." Several call it a good first no-sugar sipper. The body runs a bit thin at 40%, and the bitter dry finish splits people.
The community says- No added sugar
- Barrel-forward nose

Taking into account the price this is a cut above most other rums in this part of the market. There is a sour note that annoys me a bit, reminds me of a cognac cask more than the bourbon casks that have been used.

Bought thanks to reviews of Mr.Persson.🙏 8:On the nose, this is an expressive rum with relatively atypical aromas.Honey, tobacco and vanilla dominate, but more discreet notes of rubber and tar add interesting complexity. On aeration tropical fruits burst out, dried fruits, vanilla becomes toasted, butterscotch is noticed, also coconut and roasted nuts. Well, hello Bajan relative! Half a notch higher grade achieved through the wisps of air. 7,9::On the palate, the attack is fairly smooth and the alcohol discreet, although this rum is a bit dry. The notes that were secondary on the nose that make their mark first on the palate: rubber and tar... Well then the torch is taken by Bajan notes:caramel, dried fruits, coconut, butterscotch and some tropical with a pinch of cinammon/nutmeg.Caramel, orange peel give us a slight bitter middle, after a while also coffee wants to be noticed. 8:The finish is relatively long, with smoky, burnt, spicy(peppery) aromas. A slight note of very ripe banana is noticeable, in the end licorice appears.A little bitterness stays... I like Bajans= I like this rum🙂.. Edit:16.4.25

Very woody and spicy nose for its age, with vanilla and a hint of fruit. Unfortunately very thin on the palate, a few percent more would have been good. Otherwise very easy to drink, probably more for drinking on the side.

Rum semplice senza troppe pretese ma che resta un rum, nella sua semplicità, di spessore e con carattere. Note tipiche di vaniglia e caramello, ottimo rum da accompagnare con un buon sigaro o della cioccolata
Review by crazyforgoodbooze
the nose is quite a turn-off and not exactly inviting, rather sharp and harsh and like varnish, tobacco and tar... The taste is a bit better but overall a bit thin and for 40% it's not very drinkable and has a few off-notes that I don't really like. for me the weakest english harbour of all so far...

Fruité, caramel, vanille, pas très complexe mais agréable. Un rhum plutot pour les débutants.
Review by Johannes
A little thin, flat, but a good starter rum with notes of vanilla and wood.
Review by Stefan Persson
The molasses is bought from Dom.Rep. and Guyana. After distillation it’s aged in former bourbon barrels of American oak, which are charred, for between 10 and 25 years. To enhance the oak taste is a handful of oak chips added to each barrel. In my opinion is it a great rum that overall is very dry and oaky.

This is one of those rum you either like or not. The nose is sweet and fruity with vanilla. In the back i can find caramel and tobacco. The palate is light, complex and well balanced with fruits and spices topped with oak. The finish is medium to long with a nice wood/vanilla feeling in my throat.
Review by Montana
An aroma of vanilla, oranges and cinnamon. A balanced taste of sweetness and bitterness, somewhat fruity. The finish is long and mild, becoming sweeter later on.
Review by Murphy
Quite pleasant drink. Nice wood notes and well integrated alcohol. Despite the "only" 40% not watery. Good PLV
