Lemon Hart & Son Golden Jamaica Rum Imported (Vintage)

For experienced palates: an old-school 73% Jamaican overproof with nutty toffee, milk chocolate and tropical fruit. RumX members like it best as a powerful cocktail booster rather than a neat sipper.

The community says
  • Powerful ABV kick
  • Nutty toffee nose

Many thanks Johannes for this blind tasting. #No.6 At first, you feel a strong punch in the nose 😅... it tingles and stings. After a few minutes, a clear Jamaica nose comes through... mango, banana, pineapple and some caramel... something slightly roasted (nuts) 🤔🤔 On the palate, at first the alcohol floods the mouth with full power with a strong burn on the tongue... I estimate at least 68%... When the alcohol calms down, some fruitiness and caramel with light roasted aromas come back. Mmh pure, hard to drink (think better suited as a mixer)

Johannes Blind Tasting Set No. 6: On the nose initially a cloud of cream toffee and butterscotch... after some time in the glass a nice scent of Piedmont cherries... The palate unfortunately can't quite keep up... it is rather one-dimensional with lots of sweetness, caramel, cashew nuts and milk chocolate. The finish is relatively short Edit: the over 70% ABV is very well integrated

Lots of toffee-oakwood sweetness, plus fruit esters, quite fiery spiciness, which also arises from the interplay with the high alcohol content. Alcohol content, although the latter does not push itself to the fore. Unfortunately, the rum also lacks a clear focus; it is pleasant but, given its strength, a little too demanding to be classified as accessible. It has something, but personally it doesn't completely win me over.

A high abv Jamaica rum that is punchy but lacks the needed complexity. There are so many of them I can hardly decide on a specific bottling. 70s or 80s from the styling. This is for easy drinks. Nothing fancy
