Day 24 of the Samples de luxe calendar. Splendid nose that plunges me into the Caroni universe. Not a hard, uncompromising Caroni, but a complex, fruity Caroni. Ouch! Powerful on the palate, the massive aromas yet quickly round out and intertwine. A village fete with old wooden houses and smoking chimneys. A thousand smells of overripe fruit and cars baking in the afternoon sun. The finish reveals the potential of this rum with other expressions, then others. Infinite and perfect. An exceptional rum, especially for its finish, but it undoubtedly still reserves some pleasant surprises for oxidation. The empty glass shows off a nearby machine shop.

30.05.2020 Had a nice afternoon with friends and friends of friends including some nice bottles of rum. Notes Dark in colour. Nose Heavy, wood, roasted, tar, rubber, light mint, fruits, cherry. Palate Heavy, oily, wood, roasted, faint smoke, dried fruit, leather, tar, rubber. Finish Long and warm, wood, roasted, tannins, leather, tar, dried fruit.

Surprisingly herbaceous and smoky for a Caroni, which gives it a uniqueness. Still the typical Caroni notes like tar and rubber are found. Round and complex, nice 2000s bottling!

... Caroni is a distillery from Trinidad, producing rum at the height of its fame, which was added in a ratio of 1:10 to naval blends. It was too strong and strange to be pleasant on the tongue. In 2000 the distillery ended production and was closed. Only in 2010 did tasters appear who liked the rum precisely for its special taste. And interest grew. Caroni belongs to the category of rums "you need to try before you die." I recommend it, Caroni is really a unique rum.

Really heavenly nose with roasted and cocoa notes. Very good on the palate, but a bit too astringent for a top rating.

I was lucky to taste this rare Caroni. Beautifully dirty with fewer fruity notes but with lots of Caroni DNA, relatively much sweetness, spices and a strong barrel influence. The 68% give power and are, in my opinion, very well integrated.

Svincany Caroni tasting 19.12.2024 I had great expectations for this sample and at first I was worried on the nose after pouring. However, after a few minutes the nose reveals itself and starts to show a technical load, which besides usual techniques offers tempera colors. The taste is brutal, complex and what is quite unusual for me with Caroni, very dry. A beautiful piece.
