Rhumfest Paris 2026. I stopped by this booth after hearing that this rum really deserved to be tasted. I was really right to go because it’s a very, very beautiful discovery. This artisanal distillery produces a rum where you find a very pure cane scent both on the nose and on the palate. The good news is that a raw column version is in preparation.

Really well made and unusually clean distilled Grogue from Santiago - Cape Verde - near Cidade Velha where I was on vacation. It is made exclusively from local red, white, and black sugarcane and distilled only once over acacia wood, then diluted. Neat, it offers a nice salty minerality, as well as fruit (banana and passion fruit also grow right here) and intense yeasty sugarcane juice notes. But in a Caipirinha, it really shows what it can do. Extremely tasty!

Rhum Fest Paris 2026 Very sippable grogue but I do like unaged spirits. I can imagine that this will also make a great daiquiri since I am a big fan of the Velier Barbosa grogue in a daiquiri. This reminds me of it, but a more ‘friendly’ version of it. That is immediately the biggest flaw: it misses a bit of oomph in order to score higher.
