5,6:On the nose, the first impression is a thin, alcoholic rum, but a bit fresh with citrus at first, with roasted wood notes becomes buttery, caramelized, yellow fruits and tobacco find a way out later. 6:On the palate, the attack is sweet, but light, diluted with burnt sugar, buttery caramel, vanilla and some coconut. 5,7:The finish is medium long, alcoholic, dry with wood spice, buttery with some caramel and faint coconut..

Tasting Artur's Puerto Rico rums. A nose of alcohol with yellow fruit, wood and dried herbs. Neutral alcohol on the palate, little fruit, sweetness, vanilla and wood. The finish is not only short but also marked by neutral alcohol.

06.12.2024 The liquid History of Puerto Rico Tasting First of all, many thanks to Artur for the extreme effort and for sharing such old rums at all. The rums themselves were not really spectacular except for a few exceptions, BUT I still really enjoyed it because such rums are no longer accessible to ordinary mortals and all the background knowledge Artur shared I find insanely interesting. I really tip my hat to that. Big respect!

Puerto Rico Set Nr. 8: Alcoholic on the nose with caramel and some yellow fruits. Fruit aromas lean more to an artificial sensation however. Rather thin and uninspired in the palate. Some sweetness and wood. Cheers to Artur for curating this set!

1974 vintage Don Q. Quality quite alright, butter cookies, caramel, vanilla, light oak barrel tones. Definitely a good blend for a gold rum and already quite good quality for those times.

The liquid History of Puerto Rico Tasting No. 8 - Vanilla, sweet and young wood, on the palate some spices and coconut. No particularly exciting aromas. Alcohol is quite dominant for its mere 40%.

Artur's Puerto Rico tasting, thanks for the great overview and history :-) A series of DonQs changing over the decades, starting from the 50s compared to the current release. Surprisingly, the newest is also the best, clearly fruitier and more intense at a good price. Exciting!
