Second tasting combined with an exquisite dark chocolate: An excellent combination! The chocolate takes away the sharp edges of the alcohol in the rum, a great combination! (Rating unchanged) Strong, intense impression on the nose. Lots of tropical fruits (ripe pineapple and green banana), reminds me a lot of rum baking aroma. The alcohol is barely noticeable. On the palate, equally intense and nicely balanced with sweetness, spice, and barrel notes. Again, no disturbing alcohol. In the aftertaste, I discover the typical slightly salty bitterness, which also reminds me of green olives. Very good rum, in my opinion at least as good as the GH bottlings, therefore rating 8.8

Edit: after 2 days with lots of air in the bottle, it's nicely creamy in the mouth, not tiring but super sippable. Adjusted upwards again. Also, it has great legs in the glass, as Kevin would say. Franconian Tasting Gang on 02.03.2024. The freshly opened bottle from the split had to compete here with its rivals from the 2013/2014 <>H vintage. As a conclusion for this one, it has the lowest ABV, which I think suits it well. Overall this is the most drinkable due to the lower ABV. But for me, the comparison was only about nuances.

Blind cross tasting among some 2013/2014 <>H bottlings: As all of the bottlings were rather nice, this one is no exception. Side by side, however, the dilution is very noticeable in this bottling, reducing the funkiness and power the others display and which I particularly like. Therefore last place for the Morisco for me. Next round: Side-by-side of ten recent-ish 2014 <>H bottlings: On the nose the bottlings are pretty much on a comparable level. RumClub and Family Ricci take the crown today, showing a bit more fruitiness relatively speaking. Overall the bottlings with some reduction provide noticably less intensity. I prefer the higher/full proof bottlings here. Again, on the palate the factor to set the different bottlings apart comes down to fruitiness and alcohol integration. Among the lower ABV bottlings the V&M Star(h)um takes the crown with TWJ coming in second. The difference in ABV is even more pronounced on the palate with the full proof version clearly ahead. Overall winner here is the RumClub, followed by Family RIcci again. Most balanced with lots of funk yet also a good amount of cask impact and good alcohol integration. All in all non of the bottlings is bad in any way. There are only minute differences in the bottlings and the winner might change on another day. I‘m very curious to see how the vintage will develop over time - assuming we‘ll see some more bottlings in the coming years.

The nose of this <>H is nicely classic with fruit, esters and sweetness.. surprisingly light and soft on the palate. Initially a marzipan sweetness paired with esters and fruit. Later young wood joins in. The alcohol is very well integrated. Surprisingly the finish is relatively short for this brand.. I'm used to something different. A slight bitterness develops late in the finish. That costs it 0.1 points.

Alcohol is very well integrated. Slight pleasant sweetness. Nice tropical fruit aromas with pleasant creaminess. Compared directly with bottlings from the vintage with higher alcohol content, it lacks power and intensity. But still a rounded bottling.

In a blind tasting against the Nobilis no14, the Wu Dram, the CoR, and the HV, this one performed pretty well for me. With the HV and the Nobilis (which has been open for almost 2 years), this one is the leader of the round. Especially on the nose, it is the richest.

Classic young Hampden profile, which besides the typical fruit esters shows hints of lactic acid. The mixed maturation of tropical and continental aging brings an interesting combo - on one hand, the fullness of the tropical-aged High Ester Marques is recognizable, at the same time the wood and citrus acidity also come through more. Aromatic on nose and palate in a positively intense way - successful release.

It's rather well made but for me you can feel too much reduction, I like the watts 😅 However, the 'smoothness' in the mouth is not unpleasant and this juice develops beautiful aromas. The length is a bit short for this kind of Mark (H).

Exciting compared to the WDC bottling. Feels like a downgraded version, as it is already very similar. Lots of acidity and a bit sweeter. Less warmth but creamier. Does not unfold as nicely, but more accessible. Heavy case. I miss something in the direct comparison. Otherwise a great bottling.

Nice little Hampden if you really like the continental style. It's very indulgent, quite balanced, just lacks depth and chewiness but it's nice.
