This limited edition from English Harbour is first aged for 5 years in bourbon casks whereafter it has been in very old port casks for an additional time up till 6 months. So far three batches have been released. This bottle from the first batch have been on my shelf for a quite a while. I reviewed the second batch some years ago. The nose is very pleasant with aromas of fruits, port, spices, tobacco and wood. At the palate it’s intense, complex, full bodied and well balanced with flavors of fruits, port, spices, vanilla, tobacco and oak. The finish is medium to long and goes on in the same way.

My RumRatings review from 5 years ago: On the nose, the rum is immediately very fruity. Tropical fruit pairs with light berry notes. The rum is also spicy and nutty. Pepper and wood come through. Not overpowering but also not too mild, the smell is very pleasant. On the palate, the rum convinces with a full body. At first, the rum is spicy with tobacco notes. Then a distinct sweetness with lots of fruit appears. Plums and berries. The rum is more intense than expected and the 46% ABV is very well integrated. The port wine finish is not dominant. The finish is warm and again spicier. Here, distinct bitter notes come through, which linger in the mouth for a long time. The English Harbour Port Cask Finish definitely convinced me. Full-bodied and lively, it offers a lot of rum for about 40 euros. The port wine finish is noticeable without dominating. The finish is nicely woody and dry. You just have to like the bitterness. I am fully satisfied and here you get a lot of rum for little money. I liked it a bit better than the Sagacity from Foursquare.
