Completely forgot to rate this one, it caught my eye. Although I managed to split it and add it to the Bottlekill. In my opinion, it is by far the weakest release of a <>H from the 2014 vintage, although that's complaining at a high level because none are really bad, but it still can't keep up with the others. Somehow I can't add a picture right now.

In a blind tasting with the other 2013/2014 Hampdens, this was the weakest nose for me, as it was simply too flat and one-dimensional. The same on the palate. The intensity is missing here. Tastes flat and one-dimensional and cannot keep up with the competition in any way.

And the third of today's 2014 <>H round. On the nose, it's a little cheekier (funkier) than the Morisco and V&M. But that's also the most serious difference. The palate is slightly more angular (which I quite like), but the finish is the shortest. In this respect, it is on a par with the others in terms of points.

Tasting from sample. 👃 Very intense, esterified, you can stay over the glass for long minutes to detect its fruity variations. All kinds of overripe tropical fruits (pineapple, starfruit, papaya) and rotten (breadfruit, jackfruit, guava). Also a citrus aspect. Then, lots of brine, more on green olive when opening the jar. Some distant very salty notes like charcuterie. 😋 It has all these markers but more mixed/diluted, the typical sweet/salty of young Hampden highly esterified. Lacks distinction between flavors. ⛳ at first long, astringent and quite sharp. Then it becomes softer, tropical fruits, soft caramel, spices. 💡 The nose is well above the palate, which is not bad either. Maybe not enough tropical aging compared to continental. This impression that the palate goes in all directions and lacks structure, a guiding path. A good Hampden <>H 2014, average for the vintage. To rediscover.

Side-by-side of ten recent-ish 2014 <>H bottlings: On the nose the bottlings are pretty much on a comparable level. RumClub and Family Ricci take the crown today, showing a bit more fruitiness relatively speaking. Overall the bottlings with some reduction provide noticably less intensity. I prefer the higher/full proof bottlings here. Again, on the palate the factor to set the different bottlings apart comes down to fruitiness and alcohol integration. Among the lower ABV bottlings the V&M Star(h)um takes the crown with TWJ coming in second. The difference in ABV is even more pronounced on the palate with the full proof version clearly ahead. Overall winner here is the RumClub, followed by Family RIcci again. Most balanced with lots of funk yet also a good amount of cask impact and good alcohol integration. All in all non of the bottlings is bad in any way. There are only minute differences in the bottlings and the winner might change on another day. I‘m very curious to see how the vintage will develop over time - assuming we‘ll see some more bottlings in the coming years.

The Zero Nine is competing today against the CoR Hampden <>H 2013, my current personal reference among the 2013/2014 <>H bottlings. On the nose, the Zero Nine is a touch fruitier than the CoR, but the latter is significantly more intense and wilder. On the palate, the Zero Nine is initially a little fruitier, but also more one-dimensional than the CoR and it also runs out of breath quite early on. The CoR is more complex with a nice salty note, olives and glue and a great, intense interplay between sweet and slightly bitter and salty. The Zero Nine is somewhat more alcoholic and less complex. Even a slight vanilla note doesn't change the fact that the CoR is clearly superior. With a little water, the Zero Nine opens up a little more, but still can't hold a candle to the CoR and remains comparatively pale. It's a shame, I had really expected more from the Zero Nine. For me, this remains one of the weakest representatives of the <>H bottlings. The CoR has much more power for my taste.

It's well done but I'm a little disappointed for an H<> I was expecting more overripe fruit. A little lack of integration of the alcohol, to be reviewed in 30 mins if it goes better. It's still very good but I expected better.

This <>H first fills the room with a characteristic smell. Just that makes you want to go further. On the nose, we have the usual esters and fruits of the distillery. A fermented side and an unusual acidity. On the palate, this rum stands out once again from the other <>H. Probably because of its youth. A bit too much proof for me but it's very pleasant. A little burnt caramel note at the end of the mouth. A nice length. Pretty bottle.

I think this is by far the weakest of the many 2013/2014 tropical <>Hs so far Both the nose and the palate cannot match the level of Nobilis, CoR, WuDram and the like. Alcohol integration not particularly good and also a little more acidic.

Good balance of tropical fruit and woody-spicy influences paired with a slight residual sweetness reminiscent of caramel and marzipan. A very appealing 2014 release that is at the same high level as the vintage.

Stable Hampden, usual lots of fruit, esters, solvents etc. Not a real highlight, but usually good. I would have to try it in direct comparison with its brothers to assess +/- properly. Only noticeable is the finish, which is not so intense. Alcohol is otherwise well integrated.

The nose is magnificent: olive, exotic fruit, solvents, brine, it's all there. On the palate, it's a good hampden, rather round, a little spirited, but gentle. The finish is moderately long. In short, I like it. Good value for money.

I don't find the bottling so bad, solid Hampden with all known markers. Fruit, ester, glue, young wood, slight spiciness. All in all a good rum, small drawback, the ABV could be better integrated, so it doesn't feel balanced and seems slightly sharp. For a 10-year-old 2014 , for me, good in taste.

Mmh this is one of the <>H that unfortunately can't really convince me. In principle, it already has the full Hampden program with fruit (pineapple, papaya, mango), esters... the typical glue flavors all there but somehow very immature and not convincing. In May Tai also rather weak ... Price is still relatively fair .

Not the best <>H 2014 for sure. A tad too rough and less fruity than the usual Hampden with this Mark. Maybe a longer tropical ageing, maybe Just the wrong barrel, but in the end result is not that good

Hampden, legendary Jamaican distillery, which besides rum also produces alcohol for perfumes. In all rums from this distillery you can feel wild esters, after which your whole body soaks in the scent of yellow tropical fruit - mango, papaya, pineapple, peach. One of the rums you "must try before you die".
