Let it rest and the volatiles settle, letting bright citrus, peach and pineapple come through to a sweeter fruit. Earthy, a little smoky from the Jim Beam cask, dry and oaky on the long finish.

#7213 25.08.2026 Enjoying some fresh samples I just got from my friend while listening to some new Psy Trance tracks on Spotify Thanks Henrik for the samples! A very good release especially when looking at the price tag. Intense profile with fruits, spice, polis, smoke wood, ester, glue, salt, caramel, grass, light floral, natural sweetness and herbs.

So I've had many Mhoba rums, but this one somehow goes down very hard. Might be because of the citrus fruits, that's really not my thing, otherwise it's slightly fruity and you can also detect some esters.

High ester that almost reminds me of Hampden with a nice citrus/peach note. A bit dry and astringent on the finish.

Shows the typical MHOBA signature on the nose with fresh sugarcane, glue, pineapple and some smoke. On the palate strong, earthy and slightly oily, accompanied by herbs, wood and a subtle fruity sweetness. The alcohol brings pressure but remains well integrated. The finish is dry, spicy and slightly mineral. A characterful rum with unmistakable origin, intense, honest and uncompromising.

As with pretty much everything, here it applies even more. Let the rum rest in the glass. Then you get a very pleasant bottling from mhoby, which really succeeded. In the nose a bit of kanangon mixed with caramel. In the taste it's all there, plus a pronounced influence from the Jim Beam barrel. Smoke and wood. I like smoky things. And the technical ones too, so I'm completely satisfied :-)

I look forward to every bottling for CZ, but twice as much for Mhoba. This bottling has two faces. The first right after pouring into the glass, when ester aromas spread everywhere. The taste just after pouring is very ester-heavy, I feel a lot of glue (kanagom) and bourbon. In the finish, there is bitterness that doesn’t suit me much here. But if you let it rest in the glass (about 15 minutes), the volatile substances (esters and glue) subside and beautiful fruity citrus flavors start to dominate, which are even sweet. The bitter finish completely disappears. Anyway, for me this is a tastier bottling than the previous one (S.A.W whisky cask), because after that whisky it got smoky, which not everyone likes. I don’t mind, but many rum lovers are put off by it.
