A.F.D. S.B.S Dominican Republic 2012
Don't let the column-still origin fool you — the port-cask finish makes this drink dark and chocolatey, not light. Expect cocoa, coffee, dried fruit and a roasted edge, with the faint glue note common to the style. At 57% it warms you fast. The recurring catch: it's pretty sweet, so a few tasters who avoid sugar say it gets cloying neat.
- Rich chocolate-coffee
- Smooth port warmth
- Easy drinking

An easy drinker for wide spectrum of rum lovers. I think this can be an enjoying rum for relative newbies (who are already used to higher ABV), but also to people who drank many other rums. It's easy, it's not too complex, it's just a solid rum for occasions when you want to sip something nice and not too disruptive.

#7 Club of Enjoyment Xmas-Calendar. Nose: Chocolate, spicy, caramel, coconut, glue, roasted, woody, tobacco, espresso, honey Mouth: sweet, Alcoholic, glue, woody, caramel, honey, spicy, tobacco, blackcurrant, chocolate Finish: Medium long, dry, woody, tannins, chocolate, caramel, nougat. Prediction: Belize, <10yr, 55-60%. Intensiv and dominate caramel and chocolate notes. Alcoholic and spicy, but a few drops of water helps. The Port finish, isn’t notable well enough

Review by TheRhumhoe
