Prediction: Belize, <10yr, 55-60%. Intensiv and dominate caramel and chocolate notes. Alcoholic and spicy, but a few drops of water helps. The Port finish, isn’t notable well enough

Pub The Rumah Rotterdam April 2026. What else to say? Typical Dominican Republic rum. Slightly sweet thanks to chocolate and vanilla, but also quite roasted. I really like it.

At the nose, you are immediately greeted by the unmistakable port mustiness (positively connoted for once!), on the palate typical Spanish style with distinct port wine warmth, very drinkable! I could imagine that this accessible, uncomplicated rum would appeal to many rum lovers who are not opposed to a finish, and the price is okay too.

An easy drinker for wide spectrum of rum lovers. I think this can be an enjoying rum for relative newbies (who are already used to higher ABV), but also to people who drank many other rums. It's easy, it's not too complex, it's just a solid rum for occasions when you want to sip something nice and not too disruptive.

A Dominican rum boosted with hormones (and port). The nose is very concentrated on rather dark and heavy aromas such as dark chocolate, coffee (espresso), roasted wood, dried fruits, berries, tobacco and glue. The port barrel has its effect with a big amplitude on the nose. It's above expectations for a rum of Hispanic tradition. The attack on the palate is soft, very concentrated on the port barrel. You find this spicy, roasted, cocoa and coffee side. The fruitiness is marked by banana, berries and dried fruits. The whole is not bad, but can quickly become cloying with the strong and indulgent flavors offered by the port barrel. The alcohol is not too badly integrated, but a bit drowned in the very sweet flavors on the palate. The finish is quite intense but for a fairly brief period. The port highlights dried fruits, chocolatey, spicy and roasted wood, but also brown sugar and nougat. We stay in the same vein as the tasting offers, something round and very soft. A nice rum to make a transition to more powerful profiles, but clearly not the everyday rum, otherwise diabetes awaits.

Already in the smell it is clear that this is a very barrel-driven rum, whereby the combination of roasted wood aromas with slight glue fumes and rich port wine influence with lots of chocolate, coffee and red fruitiness is quite pleasing. This style is consistently continued in the taste, but it also proves to be quite sweet, which is a bit too much for me as a sugar avoider in the long run.

On the nose initially spices, glue, wood, fruits. On the palate then a polish note and light roasted aromas and a honey note. It warms you through immediately, the alcohol is definitely noticeable.

Extremely dark (after port) Dominican. In taste: chocolate, coconut, blackberries, coffee, wood, sweetness. For me, there's a bit too much sweetness. I can imagine it with a cigar or in a drink, but for drinking alone I prefer other, drier flavors.
