Made for people who like tasting the same rum four ways — this is the American oak bottling in the S.B.S Worthy Park WPE experiment. Classic WP pot-still: ester funk, tropical fruit and a young, slightly woody edge, with bourbon-ish vanilla up front. At 61.2% the alcohol sits surprisingly well. Dried orange shows up late. Several tasters ranked it mid-pack against the Danish cask.

Today I tested all four from this series against each other. Thanks RumTaTa for the split. For me, the typical Worthy Park characteristics are clearly recognizable in all. Nice how differently the barrels affect the rum. My order would be: 1. RX19283 2. RX19285 3. RX19284 4. RX19282

Very interesting experiment showing the different woods side-by-side. On the nose the American oak wins (presumable as this is the most familiar smell tbh) with vanilla and bourbon notes. Danish oak also comes out interesting with more roasted/nutty notes and some complexity. French & Spanish are very harsh still. On the palate the Danish oak delivers the most influence in the rum. Strong influence of dark and roasted notes with some chocolate. Funkiness still very present but reasonably integrated into the overall delivery. French and Amercian are fairly close, with French oak delivering a bit more fruity notes which I prefer. Spanish oak undeniably also did some work, but for me it is rather unpleasant. Nose: American > Danish > French > Spanish Palate: Danish > French > American >>> Spanish Overall Spanish oak clearly at the bottom with the other three rather close.

And another nice SBS from Jamaica. Has the typical Jamaican notes, esters and tropical fruits, but also slightly woody. Definitely recommended. Alcohol very well integrated, you hardly feel it. Thumbs up.

Today the S.B.S series Worthy Park WPE in a cross-tasting. For me, there is a clear ranking: 1. Danish 2. Spain 3. American 4. French The American barrel aging is strong, while the fruit notes are still noticeable. I really like the nose, the alcohol is also quite well integrated. Late in the finish appears dried orange, delicious

Tasted as a whole set – so American Oak vs. Spanish Oak vs. Danish Oak vs French Oak. Nose for me: Danish = American > French > Spanish Palate for me: Danish > American = French > Spanish. Overall, they all feel too young to me, with the Danish one pulling me in the most and Spain coming in last.

Now another tasty SBS. You can definitely taste tropical fruits but also a higher ester content. This rum is also slightly woody. I found the other SBS from the series a bit better. Still not bad.

Great set. I love these bottles and such experiments. They train the palate. Typical Worthy Park profile, with slight differences. For this short aging, I liked the American cask a bit better than the other three. It would be interesting to compare with a much longer aging period.

The WP profile is unmistakable, interesting the young oak in various variants. The roundest for me was the Danish oak, followed by the Spanish, which I also liked especially here the very dry finish. Then comes France and the American oak is the last.
