7,7:On the nose, varnish and burnt rubber, waxy sugarcane, syrupy, very strong barrel impact with smoky and spicy wood notes like leather, bacon, Cola, caramel, cherry and raisins, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, burnt notes are really intense, metallic patina arises, towards whisky with smoky, sherry notes, hints of Maggi, the cane is flowery, vegetal, earthy with tobacco. 6,6:On the palate, the attack is attractive at first, with sugarcane and burnt, smoky wood notes like leather, meaty tones, spices like baking spices, medicinal with varnish and burnt rubber, fruits like dried figs, raisins and cherries, later citrus fruits...Unfortunately, the notes are not as harmonious as on the nose, on oxidation especially, when the rum becomes peppery and gets some metallic patina, becomes overly sweet with brown sugar leading the role. 5,9:The finish is short, thin, dry&tannic, unharmonious with smoky and spicy roasted wood, oaky, dried and citrus fruits, earthy with cigar tobacco, and quite overwhelmingly tame sugarcane.

Verdict: a nice old agricole, but not overly powerful agricole. Old, dignified, woody, oily, dried fruit. 78 points. Nose: a bit dusty, and "ancient". This may sound artificial, yet it's probably the old style. Quite some varnish, cane juice, soaked raisins, cherry, and some oil, and wood. Taste: thin, sugared, on sugar cane, dried fruit, cherry, fig, raisin, wood, quite some sugar cane, varnish, workshop, leather. Finish: short, oily, woody, leather, tobacco, dried fruit, cherry, varnish.
