Romdeluxe Poisson Guadeloupe (Pueblo del Ron Nürnberg 2024) 2018

The verdict here comes down to one thing: the oloroso finish. Nose is the highlight — grassy Guadeloupe agricole, cherry, red fruit and roasted wood over a sherry backdrop. On the palate the sherry cask takes over and the profile blurs, and the alcohol runs sharp at 63%. A few drops of water pull the agricole back out. A polarizing cask-strength experiment.

#4648 02.03.2024 Whiskymessen This one is going to split waters because of the finish and I'm looking forward to seeing the scores 😊 Nose Intense, wood, light roasted, fruity, light caramel, cherry. Palate Intense, wood, light roasted, sherry, fruity, light herbs. Finish Long, wood, sherry, dried fruit, light herbs. A different finish if the distillery edition 2. It has more punch in the profile and slightly more edges..

Intense and intriguing on the nose. On the palate, however, the Olorosso finish is much too intense and dominating for my personal liking. While the profile of the Poisson is detectable on the nose, unfortunately, on the palate it is quite blurred due to the finish.

Pere labat with the typical green, grisly note comes through well on the nose. With a little time, the sherry cask influence becomes stronger and is also clearly present on the palate. However, this fits together relatively well and results in an easily drinkable agricole with plenty of power.
