Most tasters really liked this Guyana-Jamaica blend, though one or two felt the fruity and dark sides never quite clicked. The nose runs on roasted wood, ripe fruit, vanilla and caramel; the palate turns dry and complex with smoky oak, dried fig and prune, chocolate and a real bitter streak. Several picked up the Demerara backbone with Hampden funk arriving with air. Long, dry, spice-led finish.

Day 19 of the Samples de Luxe calendar and tasted again a year and a half later. A nose of cedar wood with varnish, tropical fruit, cinnamon and toast. The palate is full and complex, but starts gently, with wood and bitterness. A surprising vegetal side. The finish is bitter, with cinnamon and long-lasting fruit. A fine rum, probably quite old, with a remarkable finish! The empty glass emphasizes the Jamaican side.

Right after pouring, a typical continental-aged Demerara nose, with some time then Jamaica comes through. Probably Hampden. Jamaican with a Guyana twist, well made, well integrated alcohol. If you like Hampden, clear recommendation.

A well-crafted blend that aims to be heavy and aesthetic. The nose is halfway between Guyana and Jamaica, the first offering a heavy and dry fruitiness with roasted notes of coffee and chocolate plus some spices (cinnamon, vanilla), while the second brings the funky side of nail polish and solvents with a rich exotic fruity touch. A very pleasant olfactory profile overall. The attack on the palate is driven by Enmore: dark spices (licorice, anise, chili) come with smoky wood, dried fruits (prune) and herbal notes on tea for a profile very much led by Guyana. There is a contrast both sweet and bitter that is very complex and interesting. The Jamaican side returns a bit more after aeration with tropical fruits. The alcohol is very well integrated. The finish is very long, dry and bitter, still on Enmore with spices, wood and heavy fruitiness. The herbal notes give a bit of lightness against the sweet heaviness of the Demerara profile. A nice blend, very refined and rich, but a higher dosage of Jamaican rum could have brought a bit more tact to the whole.

No idea, but somehow this mix of Guyana and Jamaica doesn't fit for me, even if it's quite old. Somehow it doesn't fit, I have to say, this fruitiness with the darkness, nah, not my thing.

Well, well, thinking about this is a blend they did a darn good job. The nose is intense with roasted wood and fruits from the start trailed by lovely vanilla and caramel. The palate is sweet with smoky wood, a nice mix actually. Then dried fruit, chocolate and a hint of vanilla. The finish is long ans well rounded with smoky wood, spices and fruits.

The nose is intense with lovely wood, ripe fruits, vanilla, and caramel. The palate is delicate with smoked wood, vanilla, and dried fruits. The finish is long and round on fruits, spices, and again smoked wood. A well-made blend highlighting the two very distinct terroirs. I really liked it!

A bit of pineapple and banana, toasted notes of cedar and cinnamon on the broad, fruity, round and warm palate, dry wood, fairly long and balanced finish, rather dry after a fairly solid coating.
