A rum tasted at Rhum Fest in 2024. A beautiful nose with vegetal, floral and well-integrated old varnish wood. This not-quite-clear old wood dominates the first palate, but fortunately evolves towards vegetal freshness and a fairly long, well-balanced finish. I'm a little bothered by the not-so-clean old barrel aspect, which otherwise takes a few points off this very fine rum.

👃 = woody fragrances, esters, mild spices with a bit of nut, coffee and a herbal note. 👄 = a fruit compote (plum, apricot, mango) on a nice woody and peppery base, rather indulgent. With its esters and pastry side, the profile of the 18-year-old is not very consensual but I like it a lot 👍

Long maturation already very present on the finish. Intense, complex nose, initially full-bodied on the palate, but then increasingly astringent with a fairly dry finish. In my opinion, a little over its peak, but still very good, even considering the drinking strength.
