Savanna Collection Grand Arôme Porto Cask Blend 2004
People already into Savanna's fruity, ester-driven style are the audience here. Think sour cherry, red fruits and overripe glue notes wrapped in unmistakable port, with toffee and licorice underneath. Several tasters call it the best port-finished Savanna they've had. The recurring complaint: at 57% the oak gets heavy and bitter, and a vinegar edge bothers some. Give it time to open.
- Sour cherry nose
- Rich ester fruit
- Port done right

How does Savanna Collection Grand Arôme Porto Cask Blend 2004 taste?
Aggregated from 27 community reviews.
Fruity, port-soaked Savanna with heavy oak Most fans love the cherry-and-port nose and rich, ester-laced palate. The split point is wood: a few find it too oaky and bitter, and one taster found the taste outright off.

Big hit! very concentrated, rich, complex

Immer noch ein sehr guter Rum. Neben Frucht und Estern hab ich hier, wie bei diversen Savannas, wieder den rauchigen Abgang. Love it!

04.10.2019 A lovely evening with a friend. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Fresh, light roasted wood, pineapple, overripe, light glue, light caramel, anise. Palate Round, fresh, light wood, anise, berries, light glue, balanced. Finish Medium long, light wood, anise, light glue, faint caramel. Extra note Needs to rest for a good while to release its full potential.

Color: Mahogany Aroma: Sweet, aromatic and fruity with unmistakable sweet port wine. Also esters and solvents. Prunes, with some toffee emerging with time. Taste: Sweet and fruity in the mouth with toffee. Spicy hot when swallowed, then toffee, liquorice and port wine. Finish: Medium length. Spicy, peppery and hot with liquorice. Dry aftertaste, like black tea. 87 points

Mega nose of sour cherry, some vinegar, spices and port. Taste relatively fresh, spicy, sweet and sour after eucalyptus, sour cherry, coffee, wood and some cocoa. The vinegar note disturbs me personally something, but then comes through full broadside Menthol Wick candy, which he gets the curve again!

Sout and just low Savanna taste. You feel it just in the end
