The pear cask actually works — the nose is full of ripe pear that grows the longer it sits, backed by fresh sugarcane and honey. On the palate it turns grassier and woodier, with classic agricole showing up in the finish. Note: Employment at Perola GmbH (spirits industry), partial professional involvement with evaluated bottlings. All reviews are my personal, unpaid opinion. Surprisingly round and easy-drinking Agricole Rhum from Saint James considering its young age. Very creamy and mild on the tongue, without feeling thin, with nice aromas of milk chocolate, cinnamon, yellow stone fruit, blossom honey and fresh sugarcane, as well as a bit of chamomile tea on the finish. Aromatically intense enough to hold its own in drinks that call for Rhum agricole and, in my opinion, an ideal introduction to the world of Rhum Agricole, with an unusual finish from Slovenian pear wood. PS: definitely try it in the Donga Punch cocktail (Smugglers Cove)!

Somehow I can't really warm up to this rum. The pear cask definitely comes through well. Also, it's slightly spicy and woody on the palate. Solid rum, but nothing special.

Fruity, smooth Agricole with an unusual pear wood finish. Cane sugar, honey, pear, grassy notes, and light wood spice come together harmoniously and are pleasantly approachable. An original, straightforward sipping rum with its own character.

The Ballamys Pear cask is wonderfully beautiful on the nose, the pear really comes through. On the palate, it’s quite different: lots of wood, little fruit, a slight agricole note can be detected. The finish then becomes clearly agricole, more intense, ranging from floral to earthy throughout the finish. Highly recommended.

Quite interesting young rum from Saint James, Martinique. Considering the age and most importantly ABV, I was very positively surprised by the intensity of flavours. The profile is quite fruity, woody, with classic agricole notes standing out mostly in the finish. I'll definitely want to taste it again.

Retasting together with other Bellamy's bottlings. Dominant smell that mainly reminds of fruit brandy. The pear is in the foreground. There are also smells of apple and licorice, with the licorice becoming more pronounced. On the palate, the pear is extremely present. Could also be a pear fruit brandy. At the same time very mild and pleasant with a slight sweetness that was not added. At the same time, there are notes that personally remind me of Jack Daniel's. The finish is short and characterized by pear and chili. The aromas finally turn into soap. Which luckily does not linger long in the mouth 😅 In summary, this is the most complex from the Bellamy's set that offers the most. ------------------ A rum from the category "something different." The pear cask makes the pear smell extremely dominant. The longer the rum stands, the more intense the pear aroma becomes. From the smell, it could just as well be a pear fruit brandy. On the palate, a slight sweetness appears subtly before the pear also becomes dominant here. The aging has left dominant aromas of bourbon alongside the pear taste (which remind me of Jack Daniel's) as well as subtle notes of green apple, fresh grass, and a slight chili spiciness. A agricole for a very good price that takes a different path.

One of the few Bellamys I like, here a rum meets a pear brandy which works well in this case, nice notes of pear, honey, and some wood on the nose, on the palate a nice mix of pear, wood, and grass with a medium finish, a nice aperitif.

In the nose, the pear from the cask is surprisingly very prominent, and the longer the rum breathes, the stronger the pear scent becomes. At the beginning, there is also an alcoholic smell which quickly disappears. Additionally, there are grassy typical Agricole notes and wood to be detected. On the palate, I have fewer Agricole notes. At first, it's a bit alcoholic and sharp, then pear and other spices as well as wood come through. So definitely something special that you should try at least once.
