23.03.2026 Retasting and I still find it pretty good 😊 ------------ #5077 Saturday 24.01.2025 - 26.01.2025 A nice weekend in my sisters summerhouse with old friends and colleagues tasting a lot of rums. I can only recommend like we did, no phones allowed and then only music in the background 😊 Colour Medium dark. Nose Fresh, round, light wood, fruits, light cherry, light mint, faint chocolate, light nutts. Palate Oily, fresh, light wood, faint roasted, mint, light caramel, faint chocolate, light cherry, spice. Finish Medium to long, fresh, light oily, balanced, round, light dried fruit, mint. Empty glass Light earthy, spice, raisin, light chocolate, light smoke, light citrus.

Tasted again with two 2002 T.D.Ls The high rating here is fully justified. This one is less minty and herbaceous and much more on the fruity-sweet side, and clearly more elegant (+1). This bottling and the presentation of the bottling raises a lot of expectations. Unfortunately, I don't have a drop of the Private Garden No1 left for a direct comparison and have to rely on my notes and memory. I definitely find the cassis note on the nose. There are also other red fruits (sour cherry) and a fresh note (mint). The alcohol is a shade better integrated than I remember from Private Garden No1. WOW on the palate again! Lots of fruit (cassis and sour cherry), a good portion of barrel influence (oak, slightly bitter), less in the floral direction. Mint is also there but not as much as in PG No1. The transition to the finish is dominated by blackcurrant and barrel notes, which remain medium to long. There is a clear similarity to PG No1 and it is neither better nor worse.

Tasted at the 2nd German Armagnac Festival. First of all, I'm sorry I missed out on securing a bottle of this bottling. Very tasty and balanced. Like last year, a big thank you to Mika, who once again allowed me to try everything.

👃 It's fresh, on pine resin, thyme, chlorophyll. An empyreumatic edge emerges on model glue, a little burnt rubber, essential oils. This becomes nicely fruity, from candied orange to more tropical scents, I find mango, papaya, kumquat and starfruit. It's sprinkled with lightly toasted shredded coconut, accompanied by a beautiful caramel baked on the egg cream. It's greedy and evolving. The alcohol is almost imperceptible. 🤤 Sweet caramel, candied dried fruit, a lightly bousiné woodiness, then all at once, an explosion of fruity aromas. Lots of lychee and pink grapefruit. Very much so. Very pleasant. The tiger balm characteristic of TDL appears and lingers on the finish for a long time. Camphor, menthol and eucalyptus. It becomes slightly astringent without being disturbing. ⛳ Long, with that mentholated freshness that stays deep in the walls of the mouth. Elegant. An excellent TDL, more measured than a 2001, but also less cleavant, with a beautiful aromatic palette that changes direction over the course of the tasting. Oxidation should magnify it.

I was eager to try this "twin barrel." Done now. The nose first seems very fruity and fresh. But after a few minutes I find caramel, vanilla, a discreet woodiness. It seems very evolving, like its alter ego. On the palate, it explodes: fruits, spicy notes, hardwood, orange zest. It is finally different from its predecessor but again a very nice release! Pine resin, brioche, light vanilla, dominated by yellow fruits, peach and mint. A nose that evolves little by little, but does not necessarily predict the aromatic intensity released once in the mouth. A slight cooked caramel seems to hide behind. Precisely, the candied orange, yellow fruits, peach, mango are sublimated by a light vanilla, a little butter caramel, and a soft woodiness. Some spices as well. In the finish; the mint shares space with grapefruit and spices, all sparkling on the tongue. The finish seems almost endless with this very fresh duo!

An exceptional rum, both on the nose and on the palate. Fruits everywhere, blackcurrant, lychee, passion fruit, with that typical TDL menthol and a real rose scent. A magnificent, exceptional bottle.

A lot of alcohol in the nose, but behind, nice effluves of pineapple, sugary and pretty deep. Taste was compelling and rich - but slightly lacking to my taste. Good experience overall

A very beautiful TDL qualitatively very close to Private Garden 01 with a different framework, a bit less exotic fruits and cocoa/chocolate, with the classic markers of blackcurrant and menthol, spices and a nice cherry note, fairly long finish on blackcurrant and menthol freshness.

A magnificent nose of mango, fresh mint, red fruit, herbs and burnt rubber. Equally beautiful on the palate, dominated by very ripe, sweet mango. The other markers seen on the nose are still present. A little smoke and pungent spices enhance the juice. The finish is relatively long, with a lovely sweetness of fruit and a slightly astringent woodiness. Magnificently addictive!

Tasting at the festival This distillery is slowly gaining momentum among rum lovers. Seriously, every release is better than the last. It's a complex and special rum. Full of tropical fruits and honey. A bit funky. Quality of old whisky or aged Petite Champagne cognac. It's complex, there's mango, peach, honey, light esters. A delight. Highly recommended.

It needs some time to get the best from it. Then its very nice creamy trinidad, with decent mint, fruits and heavy tones in the background. Easy to sip, well done. Is it better then previous sister cask? I dont know, its quite different, but honestly it lacks some special taste to be the top TDL. In respect of the previous sister cask, this is not 90points bottle for me. But still delicious creamy trinidad.

Just out of the bottle it's slightly aggressive then after about half an hour of opening it is rested and balanced. Notes of blackcurrant, red fruit and nuts at first, confirmed at the first sip. A delicate woodiness perfumes everything. A beautiful length on blackcurrant tending towards the bitterness of the wood at the end of the mouth. It's beautiful and it's good.
