Arrived today (many thanks to Dr. Django) and tasted it straight away. And I have to say, it's fun. On the nose it is pleasantly fermented and fruity with a slightly sweet ester. It is smooth on the palate (the alcohol is well integrated) and initially releases sweet fruity aromas. These then change to a slightly woody, spicy side. The finish is of medium length. Compared to the older bottlings, it lacks a little of the complexity to be at the very top. Nevertheless, it remains a great bottling!

#5043 10.01.2025 Enjoying some samples at home. Nose Medium intense, light wood, fruity, overripe, banana, spice, light glue, light ester. Palate Warm, round, balanced, light wood, faint smoke, fruity, overripe, light floral, light glue, light banana, medium spicy, spice. Finish Long and warm, light wood, fruits, light citrus, medium spicy. The empty glass has nice fruit, faint chocolate, light floral and light citrus notes. Needs to rest for a good while to really open up properly.

An der Glaswand bilden sich große träge hinabrinnende Tränen. Die Nase ist zuerst alkoholisch, viel Nagellack und Kleber. Dazwischen oder vielmehr dahinter fruchtige Ester. Ein wenig Ähnlichkeit mit länger gelagerten Long Pond Abfüllungen kann ich erahnen. Am Gaumen mehr Long Pond DNA in Form von Umami-Noten. Nachklang dann weniger vielfältig aber trotzdem gut. Ein sehr guter junger, intensiver Long Pond, der von langer Standzeit vor dem Genuss profitiert und m.M.n zu früh in die Flasche kam.

A relatively young Long Pond in which the alcohol is excellently integrated! It does what it should and I don't expect much more here. Funky Jamaican with tropical fruits, very intense and astringent on the palate, but never unpleasantly spicy.

The nose brings a lot of ester and glue, plus some vanilla, caramel and overripe/fermented tropical fruit. The palate also has esters, some glue and tropical fruit. Could have stayed in the barrel a little longer for my taste.

Banana and nail polish on the nose. Then also on the palate, and slightly fleshy. A little water does it a lot of good, opening it up noticeably and making it pleasant to drink. Unfortunately, the finish is still a little sharp and not particularly long. Nevertheless, for me it's a tasty piece that surprised me positively, as the STC<3E profile is not really my thing. The sample is enough for me personally though, I don't need a whole bottle of this.

Franconian Rum Tasting Gang 19.04.2024 Der TWJ wurde zusammen mit den STCEs von NRJ verkostet (ja, nicht gsnz Fair). Der TWJ ist schon optisch deutlich helller und der Eindruck setz sich in Nase und am Gaumen fort. Er ist aber trotz des jungen Alters ein sehr leckerer, unkomplizierter Rum.

Den Freund habe ich blind verkostet und musste bei der Nase direkt an den 2001er LPS von Long Pond denken. Dass ich mit Long Pond richtig lag war wohl Zufall. Aber echt ein tolles Teil. Schön Ester und Marzipan, dazu super eingebundener Alkohol, macht Spaß.

Jemná vůně esterů, červeného ovoce. Žádná dělovka do nosu jako u nestařeného STCE. Po napití už ale o sobě estery dají vědět. Tělo je takové divočejší. Kontinentální zrání? Závěr se mi ale líbí. Chtělo by to ještě přídavek😀

There is a hint of LP in the aroma, but the taste is too sharp and alcoholic for me. It's a young 7-year-old rum. It could do with more years. Still, it's an excellent dram, but I'm used to something different from LP. It lacks the typical aftertaste of a tropical LP where there is rubber, asphalt. Nothing here.

Franconian Tasting Gang on 19.04.2024 In the next unequal battle, two STC♡E of TWJ2015 and the top dog Cambridge 2005 (13yr) compete. Unfortunately, there is a clear difference in color, taste and intensity. But the TWJ still has a certain charm.

Gorgeous funky LP Jamica feeling🤤 I‘m loving it😍 Thanks to Banana Joe for this cool sample. Here you get a young jamaica Rum will all the lovely high ester, fruit, marzipan, glue and nail polish notes, pickling with some oak chips.

Dieser eher junge Long Pond bringt mit einer ordentlichen Esterladung die Geschmacksrezeptoren auf Hochtouren. Die etwas zu frisch wirkende, röstige Eiche sorgt mit ihren Tanninen für ein paar Bitterstoffe, die allerdings den Spaß im Glas kaum einzutrüben vermögen.

Leicht bitteres Mundgefühl, etwas holzig, tropische Früchte, leichte Esternoten. Der Abgang dann noch mal erstaunlich viele Bitternoten. Alkohol ist gut eingebunden. Fehlt leider etwas die Komplexität.
